To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

PvP players need to understand...
1. Not all players find PvP to be "fun".
2. The ganker mini-game gets tedious, for some players.
3. Unwanted PvP is a waste of game time, for some players.
PVE players need to understand...
1. being attacked by a ship is being attacked by a ship, it should make no difference to the person being attacked whether they are human or not
2. different mini-games are tedious for different players but this is part of the game
3. playing games is a waste of time in general

PvP players need to understand...
1. Sandro made it clear that he understood that there is a difference between PvP and PvE attacks.
2. The ganker mini-game is optional using several tools at each player's disposal (not related to ship, outfitting and engineering).
3. Players choose to waste time the way they want to, not to have it wasted by other players.

choosing Open Play player agrees that all 3 of the above points can may (or not) happen in game.

Why does the aggressor need an 'excuse'?

That they want to shoot, have someone to shoot at and something to shoot with is all the 'excuse' that's needed.

Let's actually be honest here... whether it's another CMDR in an engineered Meta-FdL or a Mostly Harmless Viper NPC at the CZ the noob just picked up their first mission for... that noob is going to explode at some point in the next couple of hours and probably multiple times.

This is a learning experience... "OK, so I can't fight this ship right now, I need a better ship > CR > etc... better find out how to achieve that the quickest/safest/easiest/most enjoyable route. " The lesson and the costs of that lesson are the same to the exploding noob, whether the cause of their explosion was a Meta-CMDR or a Mostly Harmless NPC.
But I don't want to play that way, so I don't...

Getting blown up is not solved by going Solo/PG... this is the misconception and I'm sure you've found this out more than once. NPC's have PlasmaRaiFrags too and they are not afraid to send you to the rebuy screen.

Gankers can do what they feel like, they bought the game too and they decided to use more of the game's features than you did. That doesn't make them wrong, it makes them right. If you don't like it, tough. You've got the same access to the same in-gmae tools as them, to swing the odds in your favour, regardless of you preferred playstyle. If you choose not to use them, then you choose the inevitable consequences, and condolences.

As I said above /Thread.

I'm going to griefganksealclub some newbies in Deciat.
All true, and /thread indeed.

You're still misunderstanding where these threads come from though. They don't start with people moaning about gankers. They all start with someone trying to get people to play in Open. Why?

Basic themes in these kind of threads: Why more people don't play in open? Make this and that feature open only. Someone suggest new features turning open less gankfest and more palatable to others. Gankers start making noises how those suggested features ruin their "totally legit gameplay", and generally fail to understand why not everyone like their totally legit gameplay style.

It's never PvErs wanting open changed to "open PvE" of course.
Always just the evil gankers.

Well, in this thread they were specifically asked the title question. I don't think anyone can be criticised for giving an honest answer.

I remember a time at work. Management: what will it take to settle the annual pay review? Union: 5% pay increase. Management: how dare you make such outrageous demands!
