To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

You're trying to have a C&P discussion in an OpenPvE thread... talking about a game where the most novice of players has access to Billions of credits and every ship in the game... and where 'crime' (including murder) is just a matter of which system you're in and is consequently an actual and viable, if not exactly profitable, playstyle.

"perhaps somewhat better grade weapons/shields,"

This applies to both NPC and Meta'CMDR... "more better equipment".... Noobs cannot go toe to toe with end-game opponents and expect to not see the rebuy screen. They can barely expect to go toe to toe with the opponents 1 level up.

This is expected and intended and should be recognised as the prgressive level scaling that it is. It doesn't need a discussion about game balance. Once more... a new player cannot and should not expect to go toe to toe with more powerful opponents regardless of NPC or CMDR. It's going to end the same way for the same reasons in Open, PG or Solo.
Basic question is how to make game more palatable for all kinds of players. Including people who are newbies, and people who want co-op play without some gatecrasher trolling them all over. There are basically two ways: Either enable new mode, OR beef up C&P so that it steers certain behauviour to aprobriate systems.

On PVE side opposition new player meets rarely is at end-game class. Even thargs need to get provoked by player. So every opponent you meet IS something you can beat. Maybe you end up rebuy screen some times, but thats about that.

When it comes to PVP, newbie just dies. No chance at all.

You can justify it with whatever reasonz, but I do not think it is very healthy for game at all.

Noobs cannot beat a Thargoid.
Plenty of Noobs cannot even beat the docking clamps.
Yep. But thargs don't prowl actively hunting players. You need actively to go where thargs are, and carry something that irritates them. It is like kicking hornets nest. You can only blame yourself when you get stung :D Likewise other NPC's, mission system warns you when you are taking mission with serious opposition compared to your skill rating. Otherwise you just meet NPC on par with your level.

[OpenPlay] = Hornests Nest.

Anti-Hornet protection is available from day 1 in the Shipyard & Outfitting screens << These will solve 99% of all your equipment related problems.
The final 1% will taken care of by the engineers.

The skill gap... well, that's up to you.

Thank you FDev for all these wonderful, easy access, anti-gank tools.

A-rated stuff is just rubbish after engineering powercreep. Which btw. is PVP-gated if you visit those places in Open.

Yes. I would play in open if I can toggle PVP flag.

I really like to see other CMDR's ship and friendly interactions.
But due to certain undesired PVP players I tend to switch to solo when I'm grinding unobtaniums for engineers or selling exploration data after a long trip.

A PVP toggle switch will definitely make me stay in Open mode 100% of the time.

PVP player needs to understand...
1. If we want or fitted for PVP, we will PVP. Not everyone is up for it.
2. Behaving like an *** will force most of us closed in solo mode. Which why some people complain they don't see anyone even in populated systems.
3. Don't know the DEV will make changes about this or not, but you know we can logout after 15 seconds legally so if you try to PVP someone who doesn't want to, you won't get it.

Having the PVP switch so both parties know they are up for PVP, you won't see loggers and you both will enjoy the PVP experience and all of us can physically share the universe.

No it isn't rubbish, it is literallly the best you can get before engineering and it will save you plenty of rebuy screens in the meantime.

And no, Engineering is not PvP gated.

These sound like comments made by someone who only kows the game through salty forum posts rather than first-hand gameplay.
Not pvp gated. If you do visit engineers at solo. Otherwise there will some people trolling near base. And at system.

And A-rated stuff is still rubbish. Even if it is best you can get without ridiculous grind.

PVE player needs to understand...
1. just equip yourself to survive a few seconds and wake
2. i see many people in populated systems
3. if your ship can last 15 seconds you can wake instead log

Newbs will not learn by getting blown up. That is a common misconception. They will leave the game or switch to solo. You as the veteran player have a choice : Be an a**hole and kill them or be a normal guy and help them to "git gud". If you want more people in open that can survive there, then help the new players. Of course if you are just a coward with a murder boat that wants to harras people... Then kill them and watch open becoming more and more a wasteland.

I am not against PvP, but I am against actions that depopulate my precious open. There are a lot of groups out there that does planned/scheduled PvP. In this groups you find real good PvPers. Gankers can join there and start to become good PvPers so that they haven't to go after soft-targets.

PvP players need to understand...
1. Not all players find PvP to be "fun".
2. The ganker mini-game gets tedious, for some players.
3. Unwanted PvP is a waste of game time, for some players.

yes i would play on open many more.
A time ago i played in open exclusively but after being 2 times a victim with my UNARMED science vessel to a high upgraded ganker i said to myself " why should i even bother these people"..
it is not the PVP itself.. it is the unfair advantage a prepared ganker with scecial madebuild for exact THIS situation has to other people even when they sit in a fighting ship.
The engineering made builds possible a normal player even cant imagine and this should be stopped.

for example a while back i was in my 5 grade engineered Krait MK2 an i said " ok i let him interrupt me" but my shield was gone in ONE second i didnt knew it was even possible..
pvp means you have equal chances to win a fight, but this is only a slaughter
