Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I was like "wait what's Metaverse" because I haven't heard about that game and it's...a blockchain/NFT thing. I guess?

This is what pure strain, unregulated capaltalism does to people. We are going to have to relearn the lessons of the past once again.

Or just give up and drown ourselves in nukes already. I'm honestly okay with either one.

As the years go by the "its still early days, its in EA!" becomes less convincing to more and more people and the upside of no professional reviews also diminishes as its reputation in general gaming circles is about as low as it can be anyway. If IGN wrote a piece saying "we officially consider SC to be buggy and shallow with terrible performance" that would change absolutely nobody's mind at all. Some would say:"Its early days!", most will say:"Duh, we know."
Could be, yeah. But so far given the record funding year ever since 2012 (assuming we believe those figures) I would say that that hypothetical scenario seems to be exactly that, somewhat hypothetical and probably still quite far in the future. Or at the very least 10 years do not seem to have been enough for this poor guy. Although unfortunately I would wager that SC experience (mostly based on product misrepresentation) is not too uncommon. Short of regulators or consumer protection agencies stepping in, actual in depth reviews and scores, for good or for worst, imo would still be as of today one of the best ways to complete a more accurate and a bit more independent view of what SC has to offer (for the price asked) to the market, and/or to hopefully accelerate the “end game” here, whatever that may be.

I don't care about other projects, we are talking about Star Citizen. The one made with OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY!
So what ? It was made with my money and it's already my main game. It's my most played game of 2021.
I don't regret one second my money.

How many games? maybe 0.4 of a game
For now, the 0.4 game I play is better than every released space game I've played.
My second best game of 2021 is Valheim which is still not released also.
I've bought ED last year, despite being released played it only 10 hours.

It's the last project of Zuckerberg. No NFT for what I know.

Metaverse also haven't sold a copy of the game yet = cost of 10 billions only for 2021 ! When you compare it to 400 millions in 10 years for 2 games...

Facebook’s Metaverse project is funded by earnings from existing products. (Such as Facebook, you may have heard of it). It involves the rebranding of their existing Oculus hardware & software products as 'Meta' products.

In your cargo-cult rush to paint CIG as a comparable industry titan you just underline the degree to which they are exceptional for all the wrong reasons.

Half a billion raised, primarily from crowdfunding. Products released: Zero.

Wait, are you taling about a game called Metaverse, Meta the company or their product "metaverse" which is some kind of nebulous storefront, both physical and virtual, that is in the concepting stage, has no defined parameters and might never see real release?

All three actually exist btw. Metaverse gaming is a real thing selling stuff on the blockchain while Meta...well, Meta can go straight to hell.

Do you have a point to all this?
