To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

My router could crash or reboot, my internet could go down, a short could take out my power.

FDev decided to go with P2P, a protocol that was designed for file transfers, for their multiplayer and they did not consider the possibility of combat logging or did not care either way combat logging is only possible because of choices made during the creation of the game. It is therefore very much a part of the game since it is the code that makes it possibly. Undesirable perhaps but still made possible by the way the game was coded.

Again any decently designed multiplayer game can easily prevent it server side. P2P however doesn't have a game server...
if you don't do intended alt+f4 u have not to worry about.

also if u know that your connection is unstable consider solo mode for that time.

ITT: It's been seven years since the game first released and people who have been here since day 1 still cannot accept that they did not fully understand the product they purchased. Meanwhile, PvP continues unhindered because it's part of Open by design.

If someone disconnects in the middle of a fight they're trying to run away from or losing, then yes you can 100% be certain they're logged... and if they stop taking damage during said log, you can be 100% certain they task-killed.

You and they might sit here pretending their internet broke suddenly at this precise moment, but it didn't and you know it didn't. Cheating isn't OK if you can come up with a plausible excuse, it's just cheating.
Not so simple, at last year this time I was having severe issues with my ISP, like connection suddenly degrading, connection lost, connection very unsteady. It caused very "funny" Elite sessions, and whatever. (Problem was that they had more customers than capability in my area, an answer I finally managed to get from their tech support). Had any of those severe issues happened during combat, I would have classed as bad clogger. Nowadays said issues are over, I got fed up and changed the isp.

No one made any personal accusation against you.

I'm just responding to your attempt to provide cheaters with plausibility. It's not bannable to play with unstable internet, but "lost packets" do not cause clog events.
"Lost packets" are accounted for in the net-code to prevent them from causing clog events. Packets are lost all the time.
Loose enough of them, or get them delayed enough. I think pretty many games just barf when ping hits say 3600 (That was from one of my measurements during problems with ISP).

Yes, it's bad by design. Which means it's almost impossible to fix.

The same with those who still cannot accept that they share the galaxy with players in all game modes. Meanwhile the BGS and Powerplay continue unhindered because they're pan-modal by design.
