Elite Dangerous: Horizons & Odyssey Update 16/12/2021 Notes

I don’t want to minimize people’s frustration but is it really that big of a deal that fire groups got reset? They new multi-limpet implementation probably required that whole system to be reset because it introduced something new into it. That seems reasonable to me and I really don’t think we can expect our customized fire groups to be restored.

That being said, it literally takes less than 30 seconds (and that’s being generous) to set them all back per ship. It doesn’t mean you have to start logging in to each ship to do it, that would be tedious, but just the next time you fly a particular ship, take a few seconds and set the fire groups.

Big deal to set the firegroups, no not at all.
Big deal that the release notes dont say that, yes yes thats a problem.

It wasn’t mentioned initially but I’m pretty sure they either added it or posted later in the thread that they did end up getting removed as part of the patch.

I think if you used the time you spend complaining about it to actually re-set them you'd be all sorted at this stage :p
Complaining? I dont think any of my posts were complaint posts. They were all request for information/clarity on the release notes regarding the lost firegroups.
You wouldnt complain to your milk man if you wanted the red/green/blue milk to be clearly displayed - its a request for clarity on which milk I'm putting in my tea.

Still wasting time instead of fixing the fire groups I see.

The lack of clarity and info does suck though.
With that I agree. But I see it this way:

  • If I fix the FG's myself, instead of wasting time repeatedly asking for the clarification, I'm sorted and I can play the game. Not even for ALL of the ships, just the ones I need to do whatever I'm up to in the game at this moment.
  • If the subsequent fix will wipe them again, I'm in the same position I'm in now. The difference is I played the game instead of wasting time on spamming the same question over and over.
  • If the subsequent fix will restore my FG's, I'm in a better position than I'm in now. The difference is I played the game instead of wasting time on spamming the same question over and over.

It's a no brainer really.

I play until bugs stop me.. then I just play other games.

Lately I've been playing a lot of other games. Fdev need to get their house in order, it's been 7 months.

"Alarm signals" from the ships crashed on the planets, in my opinion, are present in an excessive and illogical quantity. Previously, it was a great success to find any debris, but now at the edge of the galaxy I fly to the star system, where I am the "Discoverer" and there are at least 2-6 such signals on each planet! But nobody knew about this system, it was just discovered! I see no logic in so many debris, if it is not mastered star systems or the space around them. This is my personal opinion.

Just crashed to main menu again trying to sell cargo in commodities market. Happens a lot since U9 and 9.01 and 9.02 so getting used to it. What I noticed today is Balance in "internal panel" no longer matches true balance seems it is stuck in the past. Must be part of the EDO compatibility version fixes/hotpatches upgrade to XBSX - oh well; at least I can now change FGs and the graphics are much better.

People still miffed over lost fire-groups?
Seriously?

I mean how hard is to re-set them? It's a matter of 30s. A minute at best for my universal miner that has a pair of lasers, all types of mining tools, collectors, prospectors and a pws
In my case i re-did them for every ship i played/swapped around.
And that because i absolutely don't expect them to come back - after all, the entire firegroup section was re-done due to the introduction of MLC/ULC

To be fair, some of them (at least on some of my ships) required a bit more than that, but yeah - its more of an inconvenience (now) than a gamebreaker. The lack of attacking enemies showing up as red on your HUD tho... I'm basically swerving going to any HazRES until that's sorted, nothing like the other two members of a wing pasting you while you're trying to see where the attack is coming from when the radar is crammed with ships, materials, dropped cargo, and everything else. It's not even just a visual bug either, I'll get the "under attack" message, see the splashes on my shields in the dash, but selecting nearest hostile just says there are no hostiles in range.

If all the ships that found the system before you crashed before reporting the system then it would make sense that you would be the discoverer. After all if you loose your ship before selling the data you can repeat your route and discover everything again until you manage to sell the data.

OK, let's play this game:

Yeah sure... in millions of systems there were pilots before, but EVERYBODY crashed because they are too dumb to fly? Makes perfect sense!

You are right even by human standards that level of incompetence is unlikely, however my point was that the presence of wrecks doesn’t preclude you being eligible for the discover title.

In reality of course they are there to provide entertainment for anybody that needs more than the natural features of a planet for that. One of the annoyances of this being a game as well as a sim.

This is the thing that's inconvenienced me the most as I'm doing missions then coming back via CNB's.
I've got a button for next target but that doesn't work either.

Luckily it all works in horizons so not a massive issue.

(edit for clarity - I'm on about the target issue not the fire groups).
