To Solo Play Players: If You Could Disable PVP, Would You Play in Open Play Mode Instead?

It's a shame Mobius doesn't release figs on how many people are booted for PvP.

My baseless Impression is that it isn't an issue, so in effect Open PvE does exist already.
Like any Private Group, the Mobius PGs are not an Open game mode - they require to be firstly discovered then secondly the player requires to request to be admitted as a member - they have a membership limit (unlike Open which does not) - and Private Groups, like Open, are PvP-enabled, so it's not a PvE game mode (although players are required to agree to abide by the "No PvP" rule of the PG as a condition of being admitted - which some players choose to break).

Neither Open nor guaranteed to be PvE, i.e. no PvP, then....

Private Groups aren't "open" - they're segregated

Chicken & egg situation.

Pirates want to rp but their victims almost always flee or clog on them (due to inexperience, not wanting to rp, etc)

So they turn to ganking and kill their victims without a word.

Victims who were fine with a bit of piracy rp become disillusioned because they keep getting killed even after submitting. So they either flee without giving a chance for the pirate to rp or clog.
Not convinced pirates turn to ganking, from what I've heard it all seems to be about sneaking up on miners to use hatchbreakers.
Been so long since we heard from The Code I'm not sure I've seen anything related to pirating a normal trader.
However jump into CG system get interdiction around star and hit by 'muh g5 beam lazorz' -no Comms at any point. Is about as far from piracy as you can get.

I think it wouldn't change anything.
People would log into their mode of choice depending on their mood.
Other people would click the first option on the left.*
People would find ways to grief outside of solo.
5Cers would 5C in solo/open PvE.
Gankers would gank in open.

*this is propably the most influencing part.

Indeed, but at least there will be an option for people to entertain with

I normally found very few pirates at the CG systems. I guess out of 10 Interdictions 1 is probably a pirate. And gankers not only ruin their victims time, they steal the pirating opportunities. The Pirates I know that still do RP pirating, have no good words for gankers.
But in general it is true, RP Pirates are a seldom player species and I fear they start to extinct.

It was an issue with gankers infiltrating Fleetcom or other DW2 PG.
An issue big enough that made FD to alter the PG rules as in: if someone is kicked from a PG and they're online in that PG, they will be disconnected from the game to make sure they instantly lose access to that PG and thus prevent them to keep wreaking havoc in that PG (previously they could stay in that PG until the first disconnect)

If it existed already, this thread would have not.
But we dont have an Open PVE mode, nor pvp flags.

Very true I doubt anyone in the 25% or higher would be likely to part with cargo.

If it's not going to change anything, and it wont... then you don't need the option.
Since the tools to acheive the desired result already exist in game, and you continue to refuse using them, you don't really want the option either.

People who don't like the RP in their RPG's, sure do plenty of it in these forums.

Funny that you know that already.

Anyway, if it is indeed that way, than having the option will do no harm whatsoever.
Pretty much like the CQC option on the Start Screen. I dont do CQC, but i'm glad the option exist in the case i decide to try it

I'm not disputing it happened in the past, but can you tell me if it happens now?

(I do think, as stated many times by me, that the infiltrators are despicable)

We're not getting PvE flags (according to the Dev post earlier) so perhaps Mobius could do with better marketing?

It will still be limited to 20k players
Playing in a 20k PG is far from being the same as playing in Open with other 200k players.

Also, an Open PVE will have a solid chance to gather players that used to play in PG before, making the galaxy more lively that it ever was since they will be in the same Mode instead of being split in thousands PG.

FWIW I think the cap on PG should be looked at too.

I fly only in Open and in a normal session (unless I go to an engineer base or a CG) I hardly see anyone - so I can't see how PG without a cap would be any different to Open as it is now.

I'm not particularly active in my squadron or PMF, but if I were I could easily organise some gameplay with them.

I understand it's frustrating - but honestly I can't see (as others have said) what the issue is with existing tools.

What have I got wrong?
