Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I mean the reddit forum! They mostly don't talk about refunding their anyway! It's all talk about the newest scam, newest ship, newest "faithful" post, and the weekly predictions of CIG Offices spontaneously combusting next quarter!
If you're saying they should pack it up and go home because there are no refunds anymore then people are just going to say fans should pack it up and go home as well because there is no Squadron 42 either :)

By the way, may I direct everyone's attention to the "gentleman" in the, pffffft, sorry give me a sec, in the........ hahahaha oh god....... in the top hat, three piece suit and tie and upper lip moustache sitting non-ironically in the second row from the left, looking like a time-travelling wizard from the early 1920s.

A prime SC concierge backer specimen. All the girls chase him.... away.

Some say he wears that exact suit whenever he plays SC, mumbling about "engaging thrusters".

I mean, if it had been just one or two blunders within a couple years after 2012, yeah, totally. But this behaviour has been recurrent and continued since then. Derek Smart first, goons or refunds were later with Ben Lesnick heading the charge, The Escapist in between with Chris himself addressing them, and now the "noise makers". After 10+ years of the same behaviour one has to conclude there has to be a significant element of pro active and conscious design in it in addition to incompetence.

People shouldn't read too much into this. CIG are not puppet masters and this idea they are pulling strings is just conspiracists desperately looking for some reason in the chaos. It's just a back alley CIG know what they are doing, that CIG are actually competent afterall, albeit in a manipulative way in this case. And that is complete nonsense.

As a counterpoint…

Once is Happenstance
Twice is Coincidence
Anything after that is Deliberate

There’s definitely a lot of incompetence going on, but at the heart of this project is malice: a systematic plundering of this crowd funded project via a Hollywood Accounting scheme.

Since we are now considering whether this passive aggression was a calculated move from CIG, the most plausible explanation I read is this one:

Coming from a person specialising in helping others sell their SC accounts on the second-hand market.

Also interesting because Keramz was very much a strident keeper of the faith before he flipped.

But yeah, I’m sure the hardcore who were going to jump have done so now. And those who are fresher simply don’t get what all the fuss is about.

It’s interesting that Spectrum tilted to high salt long before this, and that there are still perception wars going on on Reddit. (See the arguments around missing big features under this 'I’m new and progress seems great' post).

But ultimately that stuff can be driven by small numbers, and will doubtless tail off again for a while.

what incompetence? CIG is in the business of making money and they are a master at it, if their own funding reports are to be believed...

Oh Spectrum has entered a new stage of grief. Sarcasm:

And a cute analogy from a one year noob in the mix:

When you want to go in space, you send your rocket 90 degrees opposite from the ground. Not 5 degrees. I love the ambition of this project. But I don't think it can ever be achieved within a reasonable time. Gravity seems to high.

EDIT: I’ve no idea if this veteran reply is serious or not 😁

I understand and respect what you say. I have my own issues that i agree with that others have posted these last days.

That said your ORG must be proud of you for leaving them.......

Like my fellow long time backers i will be here here until the end supporting my fellow Citizens and OUR GLORIOUS Developers

We are committed

The crazy formatting makes me think it’s legit ;)

These sorts of posts make me wonder if they really are shill accounts. A year's worth of gutted roadmaps and they can still say it with a straight face.

However, there is a strawman built into their statement. I don't think anyone says there has been no progress in the last two years. There has been some. Its the comments where it gets really whacky

Even within the just the last 12 months so many new things have been implemented and the game has changed so much in that time.

Some funny comments though

2022: One (1) system wearing a prison outfit while ordering coffee…

FULLY DYNAMIC MISSION SYSTEM ! INFINITE POSSIBILITIES !!1!!111!!

Went to see how it was running (since it's indeed exactly the same as before), to check on any improvement on stability and performance. And it's still a complete dumpster fire. Servers with 20-25 people brought to their knees with desync times up to 15 seconds. The mission itself losing track of its own status and glitching out so it cannot be completed. The infamous missile restock bug makes it all a complete no-go (you pay for restock, then get nothing, and upon ship claim and respawn you lose the missiles you bought..). Frame rate going down to 4-5 fps at times during the Idris / piñata fight. Random deaths out of nowhere, hitting invisible things due to the massive desync (probably hit something that was there some time ago..). ATC even losing track of everything due to having more than 5 players contacting them at the same time (leading to no response, or taking off response when asking for landing, or even removing landing permission then granting it again out of nowhere a bit later, etc.).
The code quality of this event is beyond terrible, it's not alpha, it's a junior developer that was let alone in a cupboard hacking random spaghetti code.

Your customer facing shop is almost exclusively about Star Citizen, your marketing drive is almost exclusively about Star Citizen, the money we pay for in game items are exclusively for Star Citizen, and yet your development focus is "exclusively for Squadron 42" those are your words.
As it stands right now some of us, no matter how little or how much money we have put in will have no access to Squadron 42, and yet Squadron 42 is now the blocker to Star Citizen, the game we thought we were paying for based on just about everything you do that is customer facing.
The TOS do not make this clear, it simply says you're paying for one of two games, that is vague and nebulous.

So, given that just about everything you do on the shop front makes people think their money is for Star Citizen maybe focus exclusively on that, because if you were to ask people to chose between Star Citizen or Squadron 42 i suspect Squadron 42 would have a very poor showing.

Failing that when is Squadron 42? Because that is now the be all and end all of everything to all of us weather we want it or not.

-regards.

Edit: added later, the marketing drive is for the PU because that's what people want, they know this, and yet if funding dries up because of stagnation in the PU the choice to focus exclusively on SQ42 is what will bring the whole thing down, who will get the blame for that?

Have you tried installing it on a SSD and setting your swap file to 500Gb???
