Settlement Defence Plans

Since odyssey launched if managed to find a whopping 2 so far. Haha

But you really didnt visit a lot of large industrial or military settlements with high security, right?
And you will not see any Smear Campaigns if you dont visit certain anarchy systems

SDP also appear from time to time as a target material to retrieve for Procurement missions. I have been slowly but surely gathering those, then cancelling the mission to keep them. Requires patience but if you check the Procurement missions every time you log in to a panel they will eventually appear.

Hi Folks,

Been looking at various topics and youtube vids concerning trying to find Settlement Defence Plans and still stumped... Tried looking for Irregular Markers 2 scanning hundreds of planets in Anarchy, tried looking for missions where you need to download a settlement defence plan, tried looking for any missions where there is a material reward, even tried sneaking into Military bases to the security download port - no joy.

Does anyone please have a definitive method for finding these? Am totally stumped. Please help

Thanks!

Take the mission>download the plans>dump the mission>steal the plans>pay the fine....... (P.S. This was today, literally within the hour)

Found a couple in CMD data ports. That's it.

FD are aware of the low spawn rate, and have been for some months. However, a fix is yet to come.

However, the good news is, unless you really really really want that headshot damage mod, you don't need go all the way down that engineer unlock path. Just ignore them. You can get all engineering except headshot damage from other engineers.

And if you can consistently land headshots, you don't need increased headshot damage anyway. NPCs aren't that tough.

It actually feels like now it would be less grindy looking for G3 guns with audio masking included than slaving to unlock Yarden Bond.

Or just, you know, fix it, Devs?

I think you're getting your wires crossed. You don't need SDPs to unlock audio masking.

Yarden requires smear campaigns. They aren't exactly common, but not exactly rare either. Found plenty of those in HAB data ports.

Indeed, that is what I meant here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/settlement-defence-plans.598454/page-2#post-9731733

That is a Procurement type mission. They do not show up very often for SDP so keep an eye for them whenever you look at panels.
That is just poor game play and you shouldn't have to do it, I wish FDev would get things sorted with mats, it's not like they haven't had the time!
By the way if anyone needs any, I think I have 5 to give away. Give me a shout in game (Cmdr Skellen) and we can meet up.

It is not poor gameplay, it is just a workaround. As far as I remember FDEV has already acknowledged some time ago the missing SDP mats as a bug.

Hmm, might be a longshot here, but perhaps SDP has a higher spawn rate in settlements where you are tasked to download them from?

Like after you downloaded the SDP for the mission then do the supercruise reset thing.

Hey folks - definitely aware of low spawn rates on some mats - for Settlement Defence Plans you should really be looking in Dataports in Security rooms. The settlement difficulty and economy do make a difference to spawn rate but the other things (size / government) don't.
So if you do happen to find a SDP in the the dataport, and you want the SDPs, you are going to repeatedly farm that place.

You can always try your theory as my find was fresh.

the answer is right here in this very thread, and it was just confirmed by Zac

Total of 20 SDPs found in settlements (while running missions) during the past six months.

Economy - High Tech: 1 / Industrial: 11 / Military: 8
Size - Small: 3 / Medium (+): 4 / Large (++): 13 (seems logical because larger settlements of the aforementioned economies are more likely to contain CMD buildings)
Security - Low: 3 / Medium: 7 / High: 10 (would suggest SDPs are a "higher" tier of data)
Government - Anarchy: 4 / Confederacy: 1 / Communism: 1 / Cooperative: 1 / Corporate: 4 / Democracy: 4 / Dictatorship: 4 / Patronage: 1 (would suggest no strong correlation with government type)

So: Industrial and Military, large settlements, high security (and not at last - it has to have a CMD building)

Hold up, security level actually affects spawn rates?

I wonder does it affect the grade of lootable stuff as well?
