Update on Communication

Guessing they shall at least have something, anything, by the end of the month otherwise the Feb/25 Rendezvous will turn into a very akward silence and weird mutual glancing...

That whole exchange was a bit odd to me. It was posted in the general Frontier forum, with several updates for several Frontier games...but didn't mention Elite (didn't expect it to honestly), and when people asked it was off-topic and she closed the thread for a short time. Also, how are we to know who is on what team? If you're here regularly you start to recognize the team, but how is someone new supposed to know?
To sum up.

The Frontier Developments News and Announcements - and the streaming schedules posted within - do not actually refer to Frontier Developments games. Well, they do - just not Elite, because Elite has its own subforum, unlike Planet Zoo, Lemnis Gate, or JWE2 which don't. Well, they do, but those are different. And the community manager who posted the streaming schedule for the various Frontier Development games doesn't work on Elite, just seemingly on every other game but Elite. Even though there are several threads and posts in the News and Announcement section from the Elite Dangerous CMs Paul, Bruce, referring to... er, Warhammer, Struggling, and other games. So Elite Dangerous community managers work on other games, and are expected to talk about other games, but other community managers who work on other games aren't working on this other game and therefore its out of order to expect community managers to talk about that other game because that other game isn't part of the other games they work on.

Clear as day.

So, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt here that this can be reasonably interpreted as Arf telling us "I am trying to get actual answers for important questions about the future of Elite, and then bring those answers to the community". Is there any chance that we can be given at least a general idea of what those questions are? Are the discussions about re-evaluating the console release? Are they about the future direction of the game? New feature development?
To be fair, he never said those questions were about (the future of) Elite. Looking at the Warhammer videos they posted on the same day as this thread, the questions might be "how do I get permanently reassigned to Warhammer?" and "how do I get to do more videos with Andy Serkis?".

So Elite Dangerous community managers work on other games, and are expected to talk about other games, but other community managers who work on other games aren't working on this other game and therefore its out of order to expect community managers to talk about that other game because that other game isn't part of the other games they work on.
Other CMs aren't even allowed to talk to the E-crowd as Jens Erik never replied in those threads, they had the volunteer mods do it for them.

Edit: Now that I think of it, none of the two latest streaming schedule threads had any replies from players from those other games. Have their replies been hidden from us so we can't interact with them? Maybe Jens Erik didn't see our posts either (well, I'm pretty sure he didn't see mine as they all got ninja-deleted).

The 3 games that are mentioned in the streaming schedule also have their own areas for discussion.

I suggested that the games that have information about streaming could be mentioned in the title, that is not going to happen because, well no reason was given. It seemed a reasonable compromise until Elite streams are back.
They also have different CM teams. The Elite CM team 'generally' deals with just ED. The other folks cover the other games.

So there must be elements of King Arthur's kingdom that we haven't been told about. A little/lot of moonlighting for another IP.

A little poking around the Warhammer 40K parts of the forum show that Paul C and Bruce G have been moonlighting as well.

Paul looks after the entirety of the Frontier forums.

But, if you watch the live streams for Elite and the other games it would become quite clear. The Elite CMs do the Elite ones while the other games are handled by other CMs.

There is no conspiracy here to be honest and its not really anything to do with the communications or lack of them on Elite. :)

As you can see, we've had to remove some content from this thread due to some thinking it's ok to make personal comments on members of the Community Team.

Please don't, it's a sure fire way to get flushed out of the airlock.

Thanks all.

Fair enough stormy - although I don't think people assume there's a conspiracy against us or anything like that.

I'm just confused as to why a marquee Frontier Developments game is verbotten to talk about in the main Frontier Developments weekly thread - the reason cited as "Elite Dangerous has its own forum" and talk of it is restricted to there. All the other games have their own forums as well?
