Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Hotfix 10.01 | 01/02/2022

I also noticed how well the game is performing now, it makes me want to try it in VR again.
It's been doable for a while if you have heavy iron for a GPU. I'm running an HP Reverb G2 with a RTX 3080Ti and it looks amazing. At release I had an RTX 3070 and it struggled with anything higher than low, hence the RTX 3080Ti. But it's improved in performance by leaps and bounds, it's definitely worth a look. I'm running most everything on High or Ultra now.

I'm running a AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with a GTX 1660 super I want a RTX 3060 but I have to wait. But my build is doing great for it to be my first gaming PC. I get around 75 to 80 FPS ever since the update.

Greetings Commanders.

Hope you're having a good Tuesday so far. Ok! Let's get ready!

Forgive me for the 'Short Sweetness' of these notes today, Commanders!
I'll do my best to address further comments and conversations in the thread, however there's been quite a lot going on the past 24 hours to let's get cracking and see how we go o7

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Commanders will today recieve a Hotfix to address a number of key mechanic and stability issues, arisen since Update 10.

Odyssey only servers will be offline from 12:00pm UTC with minimal downtime required.

The hotfix will be available at approximately 12:30pm UTC or earlier (I'll keep in touch here!)*

*MUCH earlier! It's available NOW (12:02)

Updates of note:
  • A fix has been implemented for the HUD failing to update when the SRV would collect cargo.
    • This is where you would need to relog to continue to make further collections.
  • A fix has been implemented for the SRV only being able to pick up one item at a time when transporting cargo.
  • A fix has been implemented for deceased NPC bodies blocking reactor consoles at some settlements.
  • A stability fix has been implemented.
    • This one will be of interest to Commanders who are currently struggling to progress through the main menu before encountering a crash.

Thank you again for the continued conversation here in the Forum, especially following yesterday's investigation into server stability.

See you as we go with today's Hotfix journey! o7
Ahhhh, nothing like ye ole short sweetness, Sally. Shivers a man’s Timbers that it does.

Still 1 weird thing about fps. When I exit cutter on station fps is ok, like 70+.
Then I go inside, then back to hangar and fps drops down to 9-20. Sometimes going to cruise fixes it, sometimes not. And this is steady. Each time.

Why does every PC CMDR reply with this as if I didn't already survive Pre-release on Xbox?

Playing a broken game would be more enjoyable than me NOT playing it all.
Maybe as it is an accurate assessment of the current state of optimisation? If EVERY PC CMDR is saying approximately the same, perhaps it is a reasonable indication that things are less than good?

I suppose if you were prepared to play at 10 FPS or less in low resolution and graphics, the comment could be wrong and you would be ecstatic, on better spec hardware than any of the last generation consoles framerates often hit single digits, although it is possible that the development consoles might claw back some performance.

Let me explain it to you bluntly. EDO at times can bearly runs on a non-potato PC... It is not capable of running on a console in its current state.

It wouldn't just be broken on a console... it would NOT run at all.

Not really true. It works on GTX 1050 from day 1, which is 3% better then PS-4. At 720p and 15-20 fps though.
I am not that much into Frames per second, but even I start to bork when it gets below 20.
I had to abandon a CZ on the weekend because it was doing 1-10 and my PC is NOT a potato.
It isn't always like that... but there are times when it is unplayable on a decent PC.

i7 6700@4.3 1080GTX 16Gb 3440x1440@165Hz. A mix of high/ultra settings and I now hit 50+ FPS in CZ's, this is with 471.96 drivers (they're old) and if you are hitting less then there is a problem with your rig/settings

Counterpoint: It currently does not run at all but at least I could pay for it and own the understanding that it is in fact a plan of theirs to release to console instead of dragging the community through this "Maybe we will and maybe we won't" B.S.

Feel free to continue stealing my agency on the situation though.

Here's how it would work-
FDev release Odyssey.
People play Odyssey.
People realise Odyssey is broken.
People ask for refunds.
FDev find themselves in the same position CDPR were with Cyberpunk.

FDev don't want that. Why do you want that?

The reason I want that is in the post you quoted.

So, you just want to play it regardless of whether it's in a ready state for console and if in the process FDev's reputation gets trashed, that's just too bad?
They survived xbox pre-release and every other iteration of Elite going back to the early 80's.

Don't pretend they're the same as a triple A studio with billions on the line.
