Update on Communication

Well … I’m now playing Cyberpunk 2077 which got new update 1.5. They (company) had also long time of sillence and also didn’t talked about what exactly will come (and when) but their main quest director had and still have every Sunday evening few hours long stream where he’s playing the game (sometimes joined by other dev) and is engaging with community. His passion is very obvious (reminds me times with Sandro Samarco, but that’s loooong time ago). Putting it as mirror to what is here is really sad comparison. I for sure will continue playing ED after my current break, but lack of (promised) devs communication is not doing this game any good …

To be honest, your tone leaves a lot to be desired, mainly because you don't agree with the poster. The post you quoted was just blunt. And yours got modded, so we're probably not seeing the extent of your angriness.

I accept the blunt, modded cus i used a word to describe how i feel about exobiology, not towards the poster i quoted, but not angry, i am not in any way an internet warrior, and even if i apologised in advance, if the poster might feel insulted, or you in this instance, i apologies again.

Nah that's cool bud, I was just making an observation and if I was wrong, I apologise too. As is often the case, internet writing isn't good for expression!

Putting the game development issues aside, the glaring issue with the comms is its baffling inconsistency. I find this the post puzzling part, because its so simple to fix and the easiest win for improving the relationship with the forum dwellers, and by extension, improve the customer feedback in the socials.

If you publicly say you are going to do something, either do it, or is there is a problem - post to tell us that. Just stop leaving things to go quiet!

If this rule was followed consistently, I`m sure 30-40% of the noise would simply go away.

This stuff around comms really isnt at all hard. Its actually very easy. But it does require attention, and I dont think its getting anywhere near enough from certain corners of the team. I have my theories about why this is, but I dont think forum rules permit that to be posted.

In short - Just please - stop shooting yourself in the foot. You have enough challenges to work through without creating new problems out of thin air.

That's fair and yes I do take anything that doesn't come directly from Frontier on the subject as a matter of opinion. It's probably more accurate to say I will use YouTube along with comments from PC players on some of the discord groups and maybe some of what's mentioned on this forum to try and get some sort of a balanced opinion.

Trouble is, if I want to see how the game is myself it's unfortunately got to be YouTube until we start seeing dev streams on reccomended (or lower) spec PCs as some kind of progress update (which I don't see happening).

Well, I could buy it for my PC and test it that way, however since the specs for that are somewhere between the stated minimum and reccomended for the game it feels like I'd be wasting my money as things are now since everything I'm seeing says it will be a mess.

Well, being almost three phone bills into the year its going to be interesting to see what FD come back with for 2022, since they [FD] will run out of planned Odyssey update content in patch 11 (with FC interiors).

Getting worried that major rows are happening over the future of ED. @Arthur Tolmie @Zac Cocken @Bruce G all very quiet and inactive on the forums at present. We know this is not what Arthur wants his Team to do. I just hope this is resolved quickly otherwise I can see us losing one of the best CM teams we have had since the launch of ED.

Rampant speculation naturally follows from an unexpected lapse in comms. Anyone with any experience knows this. So the natural conclusion to draw is that this state of affairs its not a problem deemed as something worthy of attention.

Until it is. Eventually the doomsayers are going to be right... but probably not this time.

I'm actually suprised how little attention this sentence has got in this thread...

"The whole team are excited to share all of the upcoming content for this year including new updates, content expansions..."

Which sounds like a sizeable amount of info on the horizon, considering how little is known about the future of elite at the moment, beyond FC interiors. Which frankly, feature list can be summed up in one paragraph. But then what can you possibly speculate on when you know next to nothing?
