Frontier's flagship title is the one they've told investors will be making them the most money in the upcoming financial year. It's not looking good for console or Windows users this year I suspect.
I'm not sure Elite is a flagship title for Frontier any more.
It doesn't get the market penetration in the same way it did in 1984.
If you are looking for Marquee titles, I would suggest that
- Jurassic World Evolution 1 & 2 is a bigger draw due to its connections to the film franchises
- Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate has the potential to be bigger due to its connection to the GamesWorkShop IP
- The upcoming F1 Management sim has the potential to be bigger due to the propensity for people to spend a fortune to watch cars drive round in circles.
I would say they are all bigger names than Elite now.
I can fully see why there would be a big debate ongoing within Frontier about whether to keep throwing developer resource / cash at a game that is in the twilight of its lifecycle.
