Exactly.I've worked for a company that's been taken over about 6 times. People at the development and CM level don't get involved In talks, they just get on with the job and carry on delivering what they are working on.

If other games which have been planned for release in this FY are under the coche, and Odyssey on console is already in a bad place, thats plenty to send the org into a frenzy of activity given how much of the year is left.OR perhaps the company is busy crunching to get their F1 and Warhammer games which have already been delayed out the door and that extends to co-opting the community managers who suffer the unfortunate indiginty of working on ED community management.
Besides if questions need to be answered about ED going forward there is little point having 4/5 CM's sitting about doing not a lot waiting on a email from the developers.

I`d ditch all forum engagement as well under those circumstances, complete waste of time given the real priority of saving year end results from calamity.
Just seems like FDev have just fallen back to their bad old ways.
Yep,Or, y'know, whip up a 3 paragraph post on friday at 4.45pm.
NoDid people seriously think the new communication error was anything but a firefighting exercise and would be ended as soon as the smoke disappeared from view?
I think the culture you describe is bang on the money. Its been hiding in plain sight for a very long time indeed.Did people seriously think the new communication error was anything but a firefighting exercise and would be ended as soon as the smoke disappeared from view?
Can someone please, please, please go to the meet up as Phantom Flan Flinger!!!! (with plenty of flans to throw). If this post stays up, I want my Tiswas post back. With interest.

What new communications error?Did people seriously think the new communication error was anything but a firefighting exercise and would be ended as soon as the smoke disappeared from view?
Youre right. But communications also on occasion lack finesse which causes additional unwanted noise.2015 and I don't blame the CM's on this it resides entirely on the people running FDev.
Perhaps Frontier are seconding Chris Roberts and CIG are seconding David Braben? *As others have said, Frontiers other game streams are getting weekly sessions and interaction with their respective community teams, so why the silence on Elite Dangerous, your logic isn't making sense. it really is like we've fallen out of the galaxy. I hope this game continues, as I see there's a lot more that can go into this, I like the other 40+ year old gamers are realising their dream that David Braben realised back in 1984 (I noticed you cant tag David now).
o7 commanders
My money is still on Chris Tarrant and Sally James.Perhaps Frontier are seconding Chris Roberts and CIG are seconding David Braben? *
* Disclaimer: this is not a serious suggestion (I hope).
That's because the magnitude of the BAD NEWS that's about to arrive re: ED will be earth-shattering and cause FD's share price to plummet! Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... MASS HYSTERIA!
If you're right, the problem is much bigger than I thought. :The problem with your question is that it assumes that what has been communicated is based in reality.
If the statement in question is just a load of fluff which is designed to defer or placate, then your question has no meaning becuase it is based on something which is not real.
It's what I said before. That's because the magnitude of the BAD NEWS that's about to arrive re: ED will be earth-shattering and cause FD's share price to plummet! I think likely to be more about trying to make sure they can deliver on what they already publicly said they would deliver in this financial year. That might be just odyssey on consloles, or it might be that and other games also. They have to announce the bad news (console stuff) with huge good news stuff.
New expansion, new ships, new gameplay, etc; otherwise they will be in a bad spot not only for the gamers, but the investors.
And they can not be added in the level of conversation.I've worked for a company that's been taken over about 6 times. People at the development and CM level don't get involved In talks, they just get on with the job and carry on delivering what they are working on.
Yes - I do......Remember when people were being banned from this thread for being off-topic?
