I saw over the weekend where Zuckerberg told an online gaming website that he is a huge fan of Elite and was saddened when he heard they were getting bought out. So naturally he hinted that Meta will buy the franchise off of Braben. The good news is that VR development will continue under his watch and Elite will become part of the metaverse!
Only down side is that everyone will only be allowed one Cmdr and a linked Facebook account will be required. Ads will be shown in the new "meta panel" in your cockpit and funny cat videos will be the norm in Galnet.

That's why I got rid of my Rift S... I would have been forced to have a farcebook account while it still worked!
Instead steam now track my every movement :eek:

if anyone reports the post it won't be me. for all my faults of which I have plenty... I am not petty or vindictive and I don't see the point in whining to the mods.... well not unless someone goes totally off the reservation but I have not really seen that on these forums despite some thinking they are toxic.

I did report one post here, which was removed, it was the usual "I hope the company who takes over sacks XXX" stuff, not needed anywhere...

I recently had one poster on this forum claim I wasn't worth the air that I breathe. not aimed at just me, but I was included. Most of my posts these days are actually not directed at the devs or the game any more. I have already posted my likes and dislikes of the game as well as where I feel it is not working which were actually meant to be constructive feedback... and until something new is revealed for me to comment on I have nothing more to add.......

but I admit I do have a weakness to responding to some of the more "interesting" views of some folk...... it keeps things interesting waiting for actual game news.

I have had a few yellow cards over the years and I must admit a few of them did rankle. ..... not necessarily because of what I said which maybe did cross a line from time to time but because in some of the cases the post which caused my response was allowed to stand. it's a tough thing is moderation...... but if someone (and this isn't aimed at any posts on this thread btw) is going to throw a verbal punch, then they are gonna get one back off me... and imo if one is going to get moderated then really they all should (unless I completely was to fly off the handle.,.... which afaik I never had).


a bit of a tangent but then if you made this thread to be a dumpster fire away from the main forum then I guess it fits in.

Yep! It was made to poke fun at the 'doom' and give people a place to be silly... Hard to go "off-topic" when the topic is an entire fabrication anyway, so all you posted fits in well.

I've not had an outright ban for a few years now... But enough 'advice' to keep a happy reminder in the back of my mind ;) (the ban was hilarious, for 'naming and shaming' when it should have been obvious that the 'named' was another player I was enjoying both banter and playing along with in game... He is another of my gaming friends that have not played for a long time, which is a sad thing as he was a total nutter and obviously had loads of fun playing.

Well a post about U11 arriving (unless delayed) does kind of put an end to the speculation that FDev is being sold and the CMs have been muzzled due to financial regulations. But yeah, let's all go ahead with the doom rumours.. It's all good fun after all..! :)

It was a fun discussion for me, nothing serious. I hope I didn't cause anyone to lose any sleep.
