Update 11 - Release Date Change

The problem is not that it was released on the 8th, but that there is nothing after that day and since we have missed the monthly development updates it makes me wonder how much more silence we will have to endure until the next MVP update. Oh and I forgot the patch 11 release notes for horizons:

Bug fixes and stability

You are, of course, 100% correct, in that you would not tolerate upkeep on a FC.
Likewise, as they are optional content, you have no need (nor intention, I'd guess) to purchase one.

Why bother with the same old complaint when against an activity you have no intention of participating in? Opinion or not? It seems to me, as an outside observer to the 'debate', that the topic is worn out and may as well be consigned to obscurity as there is no agreement, nor compromise, to be had.

I have 3 FCs, I play the game, the upkeep doesn't 'force' me to do things I have no interest in, and each day of play normally increases the amount of credits 'banked' by much more than the amount needed to run them.
People complaining about FC upkeep have nothing better to do. If you can get 6-7 billion credits for a fleet carrier + modules, you can get enough credits in a couple of days of money making to completely forget about upkeep for a year straight.

The only reason to complain about the upkeep would be if the upkeep was unreasonably expensive... which it is not. So they disagree with it "because of principle" or whatever. What principle? There is no "you have to constantly play every day for upkeep" because of how inexpensive it is. What a pointless discussion. If you want to complain to the devs about something there's a lot more valid content out there to do so. This is the weirdest hill people choose to die on.

I stopped playing for months and didn't decomission my carrier. When I got back I wasn't any closer to running out of money in spite of being billed weekly... and I'm not the kind of player that has loads of money saved either.

And here's the real kicker.... you don't even have to buy a carrier! They're a money sink for convenience. There's nothing super special about it, no gameplay loop that you're missing out on because you don't have one. It's literally just 5 billion + upkeep for convenience.

Complaining about it at this point is so pointless I can't even fathom what went wrong with the lives of people that still do it

Pretty sure we forumites prefer Poker.
Expectations are constantly Raised, until finally someone can Call out the patch notes. Let's just hope the Panther Clipper wasn't a bluff.

I'll get my coat.
Perhaps they are waiting to see if our @sallymorganmoore is able to return for that. if so that would be the cherry on top :D .

This is a brief post to let you know that the release of Update 11 has been moved to the 8th of March. This will allow the development team more time to properly prepare content such as Fleet Carrier interiors and include other fixes.

The new release date is subject to change, however if it does we will let you know in advance.

Nice info about Update 11 planned release date :) (y) , THX Bruce! ... especially when there was not told any exact date earlier

It would need a different approach to what they are doing at the moment, but it's not an uncommon thing to be able to do in games, the fact that nearly all bio at the moment is indestructible is a pity but that's the way they have decided to go at this stage. So if they get to the stage of animals on planets yes I would expect that to be possible.
The fact that the life on the worlds we can land on currently is incredibly tough seems reasonable to me.
That it is indestructible makes sense in game terms because if it wasn’t there would be almost nothing left to find in the bubble in a very short time because humans, this is of course why stations have to be indestructible as well.

I do have to say what do you expect from Horizons (Or should that be Beyond ;)) ?

From now on, it will only be Bug Fixes and making sure that Odyssey and Horizons don't break each other. If there are updates for existing systems (Engineering, C&P, Powerplay); Horizons will get those but for any new content (e.g. new ships, mission types, etc), they'd be daft to put it in Horizons.

They want people to upgrade to Odyssey and that'll be the incentive. That's if there is new content after update 11.

FDev seems to have returned to silent running mode. For the moment we'll just have to accept minimal communication and hope that upcoming updates make us all happy.

If we're lucky we might get some streams, nice updates and maybe a revisit of PP and mat gathering. Who knows maybe they'll even fix the EDO lighting and fps issues and release it on console. But this is all speculation, and based on the past the sad truth is that we shouldn't expect much communication at all..

Why is this the only contact we've had, what happened to all the other stuff we were promised.
Good question. Possibly, at some point in the future, all will be revealed, but, for now, we have the important communication - an update is expected to arrive around a certain date, and contains content we had been informed was due in the update.

The reason why the ED forum (and other social media channels) are lacking in interaction by CMs is certainly known by them, and, judging by the fact that nothing relevant has been communicated to these channels, the reason for such is not currently permitted to be publicised.

Awesome! Need to know, will Carriers need to be in an Administration system to upgrade or livery Fleet Carrier interiors?
