That "SQ42 is just SC running locally" trope has always been suspicious to me, because it made no sense technically. First of all, the network infrastructure and topology of services behind SC is still in the prototyping phase and will be changing for years. Second, the more complex it is, running it all locally is more insane. Not that one cannot run a couple of server processes locally (one always can), but the unnecessary overhead would be painful for the CPU. Additionally, it would create an interesting conundrum - to maintain the same code base, would SQ42 be always updated to run the same infrastructure locally as current SC does?
SQ42 is loved. Really, deeply loved.
