Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Is Littleant on a commission, or something then? ;)
He's only here on the Frontier games forums for to shill for a non-Frontier game, using an imaginary narrative, for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, to answer your question more specifically, via a couple of edits:
A flat (2D) screen projection in the VR space headset with mouse look without only by using 3rd party mods

Same state than the VR for EDO while on foot.

Nah, incorrect as always young Ant

You can get full native stereo VR on foot in EDO via the vanity camera if you want. (Because it works natively in engine already for vehicles etc). You can't execute many gameplay actions that way, but you can muck around with immersive tourism like this if you fancy ;)

But hey, at least you don't have to jump through endless, ever changing, hoops, and hide in the arena mode, to get a hacked version with high latency and bad depth perception, like that plucky young SC fella from the other week ;)

If anyone actually wants easy-access future kicks (with vehicles and legs), I'd recommend the Cyberpunk VR mod right now ;)

No, FD was honest for EDO and told players upfront that VR won't be supported.
They did eventually - but to be honest it should have been explicitly stated from the moment they started work on EDO. For a long time I was expecting it, until they finally fessed up. It's kind of like most of the promised SC content, we are still waiting for the moment when they fess up and say which pieces of promised content will not be in. It's currently a scary long list. At that moment we can play the same game with LA that he's trying to play at the moment, but we will have way more content.

I doubt I'd want to play with Ant.

And bad news everyone. It seems another infamous blocker is still around…

Chris still very much at that PU helm :/

Effects over water for those MOAB's would be pretty good.

the shockwave effects look good over ground as it is. Can never have enough cool effects.

Lovely stuff is lovely stuff. (In the space sim in my mind ships slice spray across the water as they pass, for sure ;))

But the question for me is: Isn't this exactly the kind of 'duplicate the real world' intent that is impossible in to achieve in totality, and which should be faked wherever possible? The type of bonus physics load that you have to cull down the line when your computer is panting over the wildebeest dappling the veld, or whatever? When the full feature set is in. Or else risk seeing your game run like garbarge... (I can already imagine ungainly judders as the river figures out it's supposed to have wash running over it, 2 seconds after the blast ;))

Essentially: Isn't this the sort of thing you do last? ;)

Is maybe evident to you and me. But the gullible are completely clueless.

Star Citizen doesn't even have that.

I thought Star Citizen did have limited VR support? Didn't they let you peruse yer Hanger in VR? I know we were told that Star Citizen would be too slow to run in VR, but that was ten years ago. We got graphics card with undreamt of power since then. The RTX 4000 series is coming out soon. We'll probably have the 8000 or 9000 by the time of release

They never officially walked back their VR pitch, but they broke the limited functionality you could get with third party mods like VorpX when they installed Valve's anti-cheat.

Do you happen to know if they're going to use Valve's anti-cheat on Squadron 42? After all, is it not a single player game?

Unlikely, but at the same time, so is an imminent SQ42 launch ;)

(FWIW you'd need an iron stomach to play either SQ42 or SC via a VR hack alone. Beyond the standard smooth turning, and the swift yaw in flight, there's all those fun canned animations which take away camera control. The turret seat that flips you upside down and around would be something else ;))
