It helps protect the FSD and PP from super pen rails.Does this help the FSD against grom bombs and engineered dumbfires?
They can help to stop dumb fires yes, but not if you get fired on at point blank range or on the side of the ship where you don’t have them. I would opt for two ECMs, which are at least effective against pack houndsAnd point defences aren't relevant?
Defenses against grom bombs in that order:
- (Double-Engineered FSD or Fast Charge G5) + MRPs + Erratic evasive movement
- Block + Relog
- Solo mode
I don’t do many CGs as a trader, but as I find it rather boring and am happy with top 75% I find that doing it in open makes it more interesting. Is the time spent evading worth it? If there's a source of whatever you're delivering nearby and you have rebuy - what are you gaining? Could it be worth the risk just to go straight at the station?
The game does not support single player in an open world, unlike the wing. (they at least get paid extra for this)I don’t do many CGs as a trader, but as I find it rather boring and am happy with top 75% I find that doing it in open makes it more interesting.
Although I like PVP, but I can not understand why bonuses go for playing in the wing if they have reduced risk. Again, there are many things that are easy enough to implement for single players but for some reason they don't do it.Short answer, YES, I absolutely would. I do enjoy interacting with players in other games, but I don't enjoy PvP at all. It's really the main thing that discourages me doing Star Citizen, and it's really the only reason I play Elite solo.
Nice 262 pages of literally nothing.
Congratz to all.
Now into page 264 - and all that that says is that people continue to post in the thread. We have players with diametrically opposed positions on what constitutes "fun" in their game - for some it's never being attacked by another player and for others all players must present themselves to be attacked (whether they like it or not) - the game accommodates the former group's preference, by design, albeit in a way that means that they play among fewer (or no) other players and does not support the latter group's preference (apart from CQC).262 pages in reality say a lot... that the bulk of the ED endgame player base doesn't like a challenging gameplay, as PvP is by far the only one endgame challenging activity that Elite Dangerous can offer.
I am getting tired of seeing these 'always' statements. Even if you had extensive personal experience of trying, and failing, to survive against attacks from wings of players in all ships with engineering, then it would still only be your personal experience. Last last time I did a CG (at Alcor) I was in a fully engineered but shieldless T9, and my ship wasn't destroyed. That doesn't mean I have never been destroyed, but that's because I made a number of mistakes, and I generally am not a good combat pilot, and in my first attempts I just panicked and got it all wrong. An organized unit will usually always kill the target. So in the context of the topic I think it is better not to play alone in the open game as it can bring and negative emotions.
I'm curious: what kind of 'non pvp' interaction do you have in mind in the case of Elite Dangerous?Short answer, YES, I absolutely would. I do enjoy interacting with players in other games, but I don't enjoy PvP at all. It's really the main thing that discourages me doing Star Citizen, and it's really the only reason I play Elite solo.
I thought so too, but time has cured me. That's normal.Even a crack ganker squad with all the best stuff won't even get the first ring down of the shields of an engineered trade cutter with size 6 prismatics and at least 6 SBs, and (not least) I pilot who keeps calm and knows what to do.
Cooperative.I'm curious: what kind of 'non pvp' interaction do you have in mind in the case of Elite Dangerous?
I never had a desire to kill another commander. To win, yes, but not to kill. I remember one time I was attacked by some ganker and I beat him, I thought he would fly away, but he kept attacking me over and over again. Even the NPCs do not do that. I had to kill him ...I mean, play alone if you prefer, sure, but why is it so negative emotionally to lose your ship? What about the positive feeling when you successfully avoid a ganker wing and arrive at your destination? You could never have that positive emotion without risking the negative, they go together. Of course you should prepare yourself first, and understand what you are getting into, and there are many people here that could help in that regard.
For example?Cooperative.
Yeah, I don't understand that either. I am far more satisfied by disabling a ship without actually destroying it.I never had a desire to kill another commander. To win, yes, but not to kill. I remember one time I was attacked by some ganker and I beat him, I thought he would fly away, but he kept attacking me over and over again. Even the NPCs do not do that. I had to kill him ...
I'm not quite sure what kind of example you want here. For example?
