Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

You THINK! Well that must have taken some working out. :ROFLMAO: Go and post in the Elite Dangerous VR thread, this thread is for discussing an unreleased game not made by Frontier.
EDO is a good point of comparison for SC. Some says here that CIG will not be able to keep all the stuff present in the current alpha for the release. They are perhaps correct as that's what happened to EDO.

No no, I think that the VR work was started but abandonned during the beta.

Yeah see there's a far less conspiratorial explanation: VR is supported natively in EDO. Retaining access to it in the 3rd person camera is a no-brainer, because the 3rd person view:
  • Doesn't cause motion sickness
  • Doesn't require any changes to gameplay functionality or design
  • Doesn't require any alterations to UI
  • Would just work out of the box.

So why intercede with the 2D screen?

There's nothing here that suggests work was done on actual VR gameplay and then removed. Like, literally nothing...

---

If you want to talk about a game that definitely did remove native VR support, let's talk about SC :)

Q: Some of the OG users would actually love to know what happened to the old version of VR? Is it even still there code wise or did you just yank it out completely?
A: No I deleted it... It was already broken and, but, there were still tons of code in the code base, in the engine, is that which I yanked out.

I like the way that straight-out-of-college engine programmer Silvan, who is the grand proponent of the second coming of VR, is taking point on Gen 12

You could say i'm the main guy for Gen12. I did a lot of the implementation so far. C.Bolte our Lead Engine Programmer did the design and low level implementations.

Of course Gen 12, and then Vulkan, are apparently pre-requisites for the rebirth of SCVR. And for so many other dreams of full core, full bore, SC progress. Seems strange that's been left in the hands of such an inexperienced dev. But there you go ¯\(ツ)/¯

I'm sure VR's glorious return is but a Q2 beta away... ;)

Yes. Good point for FDEV for not breaking the VR of Horizon.

EDOVR played fine for me on a 1080 ¯\(ツ)/¯. And that was before most of the optimisation passes:

But I see you're just working down the sliding scale of 'ED bad so SC good' tropes, despite none of them making a lick of sense.

At least you seem to agree now, at minimum, that SC "culled" its native VR support, while ED maintained theirs. Making your bizarre "ED culled VR" comparison utterly absurd ;)

2015, and goddam it still works 😁

I think we can drag this out for a few more years...

SC, 45 euros I paid : game not released I enjoy : 1
ED, 20 euros I paid : game released I enjoy : 0

You should also ask Katie or Drew Wagar what they think about the released or not argument. It seems they haven't understood that being released is the only thing that matter for a game.

No thanks. The views of those two individuals have been spammed here to such an extent I probably know what type of toilet fittings they would prefer in their BMM.

But if we're just cherry picking individuals based on personal taste, rather than on broader objective facts, it would be interesting to know what these whale refundians think perhaps?

This week alone I've had at least 3 $3000+ accounts a day. 1 18K account.
Every month I see at least 1 10k+ account but I've seen ones multiple times that.

Although of course there's always a steady flow of those who do detail their views ;)

I bought into SC in 2016 and scooped an Aurora MR + SQ42 + Redeemer upgrade. Since then, I've watched my $500 investment turn to sand. Unlike some out there, I bought what I thought was a game and instead turned out to be a charlatan's dream.

March 21st 2022

...the 5k I spent on SC over however many years was way less than I spend any year on charities or taxes or even just random other crap I didn't need.

The whole reason I went after them in court was because unlike lots of other people CIG exploits, I had the ability to take time off, consult with lawyers before I went about what to expect, burn some airline miles and hotel points, and try to take them to task for their dishonesty.

Want me to repost the guy from the other day who refunded and bought a septic tank instead? Because I can spam content creators too you know ;)

You spam here your 'not released' argument like it's the ultimate one, so I spam the counter argument.
They are just the perfect demonstration that being released is not so important for some gamers.
They are long term players of space games and enjoy playing SC enough to talk about it. Seeing some well know and respected players enjoying SC past the honey moon is not easy for you, you can't call them cultist, stupid or gullible players to dismiss them. I don't think that trying to connect them to toilets narrative will do the trick.

Yes but for the 338,001,228th time FDEV aren't selling four figure bling barges on the back of it..........jesus
For the 338,001,228th time, buying a bling barge is the way the project is funded. Buy it if you want to support CIG. You don't want to support ? Don't buy the alpha or just stick to the base package.
