I was hoping the sidey would win

I can't imagine ever getting bored of the view if I lived here:

Oh come on. You'd get bored and want to go into Tosche Station and pick up some power converters.

I am not sure if there is some innuendo there as I don't even know what power converters are.

I did however finally manage to complete a salvage from a crash site threat 2 last night - I needed to use a scorpion to kill the opposition though - then the mission salvage thing was nowhere to be found and after re-log I had to kill another 4 using the scorpion. All the previous 4 times I tried one of those missions I died (hence the scorpion this time). The only ones I think are suitable for me are the threat 0 "go collect" or "take this to" someone ones.

Happily, after that Oddity session I loaded up an alt in Horizons and spent some time building a sidewinder just for the fun of enjoying the proper game with everything feeling so satisfying, easy to navigate* (well, except for system maps not having station facilities info) and just pure fun.

* Have you tried adding bobbleheadthingies in Odyssey? Who on earth (ok, who in Cambridge) decided to unstack the alphanumeric packs (both varieties) so you now have an enormous scroll-fest just to find what you want. Some of this Oddy stuff gets right on my wick.

No innuendo intended ;) Just a poor attempt at humour mixed in with a Star Wars quote.

On the salvage mission ... another option is to have a ship with missile launchers. You can nuke 'em from above and then land, safe in the knowledge noone will hinder you. Unless another boat load arrives.

The beauty of this is that these kills count towards your combat rank

....

It went right over my head I am afraid, so thanks to googliness:

"But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!"
"You can waste time with your friends when your chores are done."
―Luke Skywalker and Owen Lars

How on Earth (or Tatooine) that sticks in your head I'll never know. o_O

(I miss the old animated emoticonthingies)

It's funny. Some stuff just sticks... I don't know why. Quotes from "Aliens" and "Spaced" are always there and so is something else - and it's particularly useless: there was a "song" ages ago called "The Lone Ranger" by Quantum Jump. The line I remember - and can still sing along to - is the first line of this number (beware - you will lose a few minutes of your life and you'll never get them back):

What kind of mission? If it's a pirate that needs killing, try dropping in the nav beacon or cruising slowly, they tend to come to you. If you have a FSD interdictor, you can also often fish them from SC - just be quick, they try to run.

... I have also found that jumping to a nearby system and then back again sometimes makes the mission target spawn nearer.

Briefly basking in my opalescent paintjob by the glow of a small nebula. It's nice when the lighting actually makes it work 😸

And then moved on, because there's only really 1 system near enough to this tiny thing to make it worth visiting. Next stop, the Ophiuchus Dark Patch.

I'm not sure why I imagined there'd be much to see. Turns out a dark patch looks like empty space. Another hop on however, I found a lovely little ice moon. A binary moon, even.

This is much nicer than that ammonia laden hell world!
