Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Some fine comments maturing in the replies…

If an NPC craps in the forest and Tony Zurovec isn’t there to see it, will the shard dynamically pass the server meshing to the quanta?

SC player in 2023: "Sure, I can still only get 15 frames per second and I constantly clip through the floor and die...but with the latest update my character can actually butter toast!"

This feature sounds like a textbook case of scope creep, though it is mildy amusing that if a person focuses on keeping their character clean, their personal hygiene might be inversely proportional to their character's.

I always knew their roadmap was crap.

Lots of people in the comments saying survival/ pooping mechanics need to be optional, but how can you have optional mechanics in a multiplayer game with PVP?

It would lead to PVP where one player starves another player out or waits for them to dies of constipation :ROFLMAO:

Poop slider?

(EDIT: Actually, can't believe Chris hasn't thought of this. Metabolism physics... The more players run around in an unfidelitious manner, the more they are punished by greater food consumption. And by greater pooping...)

And that there is THE problem.
Pretty much. There is no design. Just handwaving, pretty assets and desperate attempts to glue the unrelated bits together in the hope it sticks and constitutes a game. You see most mileage from efforts that create whole gameloops, like mining. Then you wait years while Donowits chews your ear of with waffling about features but in the end you just get a simple algo that moves prices up and down and idiots still hail it as quantic leapfrogs.

There's hope that with a working economy (with the fabled quanta, production, etc.), ship refineries, and space trucking, this will at least constitute a decent core gameplay loop. Given the chaotic nature of this project development, this may happen if stars align.
Before that happens another X game would release and you'd get very likely the best kind of any "quanta" from there.
