Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My first foray into the BGS has ended with, what I'm claiming to be, a heroic victory for the forces of decency and the 'little man.'

With Baade Enterprise up for grabs and nearly in the hands of Denka Patron's Principles I managed to fend off their grubby advances and ensure The Leaders of Annwn were victorious. Important information has been disseminated around the locale, cargo deliveries have been transported and a few foolish brigands dispatched without ceremony. From 20% influence a piece I have swayed the balance of power to 23.5%/15.9%, overseen a continued Boom state despite the Elections and ensured the Station remains under righteous control.

Now, headline grabbing politico nonsense aside. I need to check the data across a few sites, double check the traffic reports and ensure I'm not claiming the hard work of someone else and then read up on why things happened and how I can push on. The controlling Faction aren't native, aren't a PMF and sit at 41.2% Inf so I'm wondering if I may push on and attempt a coup at their coriolis station and make a mad grab for power...

...oh dear, I feel like something may be getting out of hand😇
I first had a try at this by joining the UMCA in their takeover of Yingo. They were successful but my contribution was tiny. It's a nice little aspect of the game though.

Been doing some of that exploring I was talking about. The plan is to go and check out Colonia for the craic, I went across to dock in Mammon to start the journey as I had never docked at an asteroid station before. Not going to rush it.

If there hadn't been that painite mining multi-hundred million earning spree before the nerf reaiignment, I doubt I'd have had my carrier for ages.

It was a slow slog for me to get the 1st few billions even with pre-nerf Painite, cos I was still quite new. But the bit that pushed me over the line was that wonderful CG where they paid over a billion for top 75% or something.

Yes, I used it before. I thought the Phantom MKII can only take a 6 or lower as it doesn't have any 7 bays (I could be wrong though, this is all still new to me). I did look at only a couple of the places that stock them and didn't find any, I will check again when I get back.
Krait II and Phantom both can use a 7A but if a 6A is enough for the power you need you would not take on the extra weight and expense of a 7A of course.
My exploration Phantom runs on a 3A.

The Krait MkII and the Krait Phantom both have size 7 Power Plant and Power Distributor slots in Core Internals the size 6 maximum is in their Optional Internals slots.

Aaah, Mammon. Those were the days. Asteroid bases are great though. Compare those to landing at some crappy outpost.

Although outposts are better for testing your landing skills.

Lorks. The Dolphin is so underrated for exploring in (at the risk of repeating myself). For the princely sum of 15.5mCR, you get a ship that boosts to 450m/s and jumps 59.5LYs. Plus all the other nice stuff I mentioned before. It helps with engineering of course... here's my non-wheelchair-bound wizard:

Mmm, not sure what you did put in that Dolphin, but my DBX is boosting to 476, jumps 73 ly and is costing only 12 millions.
It also has a really unobstructed front and lateral view - yea, i really hate the thick A-pillars featured by the Dolphin's cockpit

4D thrusters, clean. Mass managed max FSD.

I know the DBx "beats" the Dolphin in most respects when it comes to exploring but... I just don't like the DBx. I often ask myself why and I always come to the same conclusion: the engine noise on boost.

It's pretty and beauty is in the eye of the beholder and stuff but there you go! :D

Now... Beluga's...

Tip - change your thrusters to dirty + drag. You will go faster and it makes no difference to heat generate at the times you want to stay cool.

Finally reached the edges of the nebula! It's a little boring... most of the nearby systems are solitary stars :<

Although this little volcanic ice moon has quite a nice skyline.

I'm noticing the "dark" side of planets seems to be very well lit of late... but only under some circumstances. Not entirely sure what makes for deep shadows and what doesn't...

I dislike the Asp Ex for this same reason :D
I spent so much of my early game time in the AspX. It took me to places I’d never been before, hauled more cargo than I had before and allowed me to make a decent fortune mining. Which may be why I feel like an ungrateful a** every time I do get into one now …. and roll my eyes and start moaning as soon as I take off. Its the 34th Century and I’m in something that sounds like it’s made from canvas and wood.

I haven’t sold it though, same one I started with - not sure what to make of that but there you go. :)

Edit: keep forgetting about the profanity filter

Well, that's even better news, I shall endeavor to persevere and scour all systems in the Colonia area to try and find at least a 6A powerplant (need to pay my bounty first). I want to locate that Fleet Carrier called "We Sell All Modules", their probably really expensive, as is everything out here.
