Both sides of the debate have their zealots. Buur got raked over the coals because he was not "critical enough" when he reported on Frontier's announcement about consoles. As a self-identifying moderate / centrist, I watch both Buur and Obsidian, because both are very nice people who talk about a game I remain interested in. I actually defended Buur's right to have his own opinion in his contentious comment section, despite being more pessimistic about Frontier myself. What you say is, for me at least (for example Buur for me is more of a friend of frontier, and friends never criticise friends) , a confirmation of my personal belief that youtubers are not as much "influencers" as people might think, but more of someone who give a somewhat coherent speech that people can rally or identify with. Which makes this thread, and many more, a simple debate of two groups of people : those who think the game is in bad shape and those who don't all you need is to rally whomever "influencers" speak your mind. Of course, in every group there are people who goes a bit further into subject, being more or less "passioned" of it. I mean it cant be that 300k people that watch OA are all pending to buy odyssey and he influnces them into not to buy.... People just choose the voice that resonates with them.
This mentality of "anyone who has a different opinion than I do is an evil enemy who must be punished / canceled" that so many people have lately is frightening. I don't pick the Youtubers I follow based on their opinions, but rather their personality. I much rather follow nice people like Obsidian and Buur, even when I disagree with them, than a nasty person (and I can list a few) who agree with all the core tenants of my "faith".
