The thing is, not everyone wants the same thing. I would like to have micro jumps because I think that SC gets tedious sometimes, others don't want it because it would take the size away. Should Frontier listen to me, the others or following their own vision? I picked that example because SC is something Frontier implemented due to feedback from the community and I am still not sure if it's good or bad. Maybe that explains my position?
Oh, I understand your position, and I think:
They should absolutely engage with you. I vaguely remember you from the older days, I assume you have +5000 hours under your belt, obviously you can explain your position eloquently, while taking into account the big picture. Also others, who play the game actively and on a certain level of proficiency can collectively provide focused feedback in pre-alpha builds and whatever. If devs are doing their job well, they will have absolutely 0 time to play the game and thus don’t know how one or the other thing will play out. That’s not a problem. A player council can mercilessly dissect upcoming ideas - pro explorers, pvp masters, entrepreneurs, - pre-screened top players in their field will have amazing feedback, I guarantee. Experience is everything, we just can’t substitute top player experience with anything. If top players disagree harshly, they can vote, or the decision is passed to FD. Either way, even this disagreement is valuable feedback.
Not a question of being a bad or a good idea. Can be either, depending on technical realisation. It better be done though, for the game at such scale needs next level engagement.
