it is true that you can spend a lot of money on SC ships... but OTOH my package for Star Citizen and the 1st Squadron 42 game comes with a ship and cost me less than my Elite Dangerous pledge.......

No one forces you to be a whale. Now.......... how much of an advantage those whales will get when the game launches remains to be seen...... but personally despite having a shiny cobra mkIII and a bag of cash in my starting pledge for ED as an option, I never used them.

We dont know yet how money grubbing SC will be when it launches.

they have a lot less holidays in general than the UK.... there are reasons to want to live in the US (some of the places are breath taking) but days holiday - and work life balance in general imo - is not one of them.
Fair enough - thought they had more BH than us, but know they have a lot less holidays in general (work wise ) than us.

Lol it will never launch mate.
Just look at the disaster Invictus launch week is, folks cant even play the game on their 'free fly' week.
Complete joke of a Game 😂

time will tell i guess....... it would be nice to have a way of tagging posts with an easy way to go back to them.... (i dont want to fill my bookmarks up and i will neer be able to find this thread even if it does launch in 3+ years time ;)

S42 may be a little closer but i digress and i wont derail any more.
(I wonder what will come 1st.... Star Citizen or the DDF ships crew as well as landing on WWs and ELWs in ED? ;) )

How many a year does the US have - sure it's more than the UK - we normally have 8. It's just that most of ours come in bunch, and then we have none for ages.
The places that I've worked here in the US have offered 10-paid holidays per year. Employees generally may get paid time off in addition, but the norm that I've seen is between 10-15 days to be used for personal vacations, sick days/doctor visits, etc.

Ah yes, Powerplay V2 where the old promised feature of having people fall off the roster is finally realised. Poor old Delaine, going to miss him.

indeed which is a pretty grubby work life balance imo. Years ago I was offered a job in St Louis it was doing the same job as was part of the same project (Human Genome Project).... the pay was significantly more but half the holiday, issues with sickdays - not to mention the brutal heat / humidity it was just not something i fancied... nice to visit and do knowledge exchange - the people were fantastic there and the locals (in the bars) were also really chatty, but i prefered Cambridge UK even if my pay was guff......

now had it been in a costal part of Maine I would have been in! ;)

Ouch. I was using the highly accurate internet for my research - and was only talking 'Public / Bank Holidays', but presuming that is all Holidays, including 'Public/ Bank', then you poor sod. I get 8 public, and 23 personal (I dropped from 8+25 from previous jobs). I think average is the 8 (statutory), and around 20 others

Come on Over - the weathers iffy, so is the Government (whichever one we have at the time), but the people are nice(ish), you are unlikely to get shot, and errrmmmm.
Their must be more to it than that, hmmmmmm.

EDIT: What has happened to the world, when you can't trust what you find on the internet :)

And at a UK employer, your line manager/HR will usually hound you for not using your entire paid annual leave within the year, as opposed what friends have told me of the culture in some workplaces in the US where using your whole entitlement is looked down upon.
