Update 12 moved to 7 June

Ou

Ouch. I was using the highly accurate internet for my research - and was only talking 'Public / Bank Holidays', but presuming that is all Holidays, including 'Public/ Bank', then you poor sod. I get 8 public, and 23 personal (I dropped from 8+25 from previous jobs). I think average is the 8 (statutory), and around 20 others

Come on Over - the weathers iffy, so is the Government (whichever one we have at the time), but the people are nice(ish), you are unlikely to get shot, and errrmmmm.
Their must be more to it than that, hmmmmmm.

EDIT: What has happened to the world, when you can't trust what you find on the internet :)
There are a lot more holidays that banks/government take, but the average business (from my experience) takes 10 main holidays. I'd love to come over, for a visit at least!

Personally I would happily take a week delayed release with no glaring bugs over one set in stone and released regardless of obvious issues. if we were talking months of delays then i would have more sympathy with those who are angry.
of course that is on the assumption that when it comes we actually GET a release with no glaring bugs, and that is debatable going on past releases to be fair.

Are people really angry, or just disappointed again?

Announce a release date on elitedangerous.com and then change it within five hours? With that argument? I'd call that poor, yeah.
Did they announce it on elitedangerous.com? I doubt the vast majority of players or forum members (not always the same thing) would have had any clue.

What I do know is they said planned for May, and now it's been moved a week into June.

And now we have synthetic outrage 🤷‍♂️

I should be livid, I planned a little break from 6th June, thinking EDO would have been updated by then and able to run on my potato laptop...

It just doesn't bother me, it isn't as if there is anything groundbreaking coming with U12, bar a new batch of bugs, no doubt. 🤷‍♂️

Neither, really...I'm just baffled. This is twice now that FDev have said one thing and then, within hours, said something completely different. I just can't imagine what causes that.
Are you sure we are still talking about Elite now and not about the (UK) Government ? :D

Oh. Suddenly and expectedly the next update will be late. Reason = bank holiday. Hmmm. I guess I don’t have to understand the connection between a bank holiday and releasing a software update as committed. Bottom line is, thank goodness, it’s not FD’s fault.

It makes me laugh in this day and age with all thats going on that folks actually get upset by a developer changing the date of an update, i mean come on folks get real.

I think that if one were to take your statement in a vacuum, you would be absolutely correct. But when it becomes serialized behavior on the part of the developer, I think it's a horse of a different color. Myself, I chuckle and move on but I do see how some, especially those who have invested significant real world money into the game, can be frustrated. And let's not forget that this game was crowdsourced in its infancy. So I do think some folks, rightly or otherwise, feel as if it is "their" game.

Well, if they updated just before the holiday, and there was a bug (and there are always bugs), then you would have been sat here, posting furiously for 4+ days screaming 'why did they update just before a long weekend! Are they fools!'. Postponing until after the holidays means you only get to do that for a day or so. HTH.

But are people really upset or outraged as thistle put it? I mostly see tongue-in-cheek and/or snide remarks about the bank holiday arriving unexpected.

I don't care about the delay and it's definitely a good decision to have some hands on deck right after release of U12.
