Update 12 moved to 7 June

It must get tedious.

Still some of the critics really scrape the barrel

Yep. Bang on. There's absolutely nothing wrong with criticism of the game (and certainly of the company's management of it) but the way some of the regulars around here perch in the trees like vultures, looking for any scrap of carrion to pick over...

It's one of the forum game loops!
Way to keep the thread alive tho'

On topic, is update 12 when they fix the lighting and AA or have they just stopped talking about it? I mean, it's been over a year and fixing the planet issue has been dropped as not being that important (like the square clusters of stars at the heart of the galaxy*) or are they still learning how to do culling and AI optimisation?

Greetings Commanders,

In light of the upcoming bank holidays, Update 12's release date is moving to 7 June. This is to ensure the development team are available to monitor the changes post-launch. Thank you for understanding!

In case you missed it, we discussed some of the expected changes in our latest episode of Frameshift Live:

Next time just say it's not ready or something.

"Sorry guys, those holidays that are in the same place every year really surprised us and we figure we should be available to see if things are working post patch." doesn't help the Fdev competency rating.

Are we to believe the project manager hasn't grasped the calendar yet? Maybe use that extra week for some serious in game QA? Or put it on a beta server for a week or two and let players have a bash at it before you put it into production?

We've had this discussion and uprising every few years. Let's go!

Is the Queen's jubilee something that happens every year tho?

And its not what they said, despite you putting it in quotes to somehow make it seem like they did. They needed to delay the update. Delaying one week would mean releasing just before a 4 day holiday where likely many staff were taking the week off. So, due to the bank holidays, they needed to delay another week. No one was surprised by the bank holidays. The delay was not because of the holidays, it was longer because of them.

Where did Frontier say that please?

This always cracks me up 😂

Like SC is always delivering on time 🤣
Or like SC is a product with a flawless performance and no crashes or bugs 🤣
It's not about delivering updates on time, it's about the approach, working with the community, detailing, attention to detail, elaboration of the system. I can list a lot. The only plus of the Elite is that she released herself.

Given that things like news posts and even previous patches have been delayed due to bank holiday ... yes.
Really what I'm asking is if the Queen's jubilee was a surprise holiday. Did they just spring it on everyone and say "surprise! In two weeks we're celebrating the Queen's jubilee!" If so, then it makes sense to blame the delay on the holiday, but this seems like something that would have been expected/planned/known. I'm not saying the decision to delay the update wasn't the thing to do, it's the blaming it on a "surprise" holiday that seems a bit ridiculous. Either way, enjoy the holiday!

Quite possibly they were aiming at 'May' and planned on it being yesterday - in which case there is a week before the hols and no issue - everything proceeds as planned. Then they slipped a couple of days - now it's next Tuesday - doesn't sound bad, still May. Then someone points out there will be holidays for most of the rest of the week and it seems more of an issue if there are bugs (and there are always bugs). Its only a few days so maybe postpone. Which is fine - unless you have a bunch of ppl on a forum who don't handle changes well.

And here we are :)

They just said it, right?

Queen's Jubilee is not happening every year, google it...

The project manager was informed the patch will be delayed with one week and it could be released in the shortweek, right before the long bank holiday.
They decided to postpone the release so, if anything goes wrong, they have the manpower to tackle the issues. Quite right i may say.

Anyway, maybe you should also read about Wheaton's Law

That's a perfectly reasonable excuse and I think you're right. Also, like some others in here have said, they're "damned if they do, damned if they don't", so explaining it this way would have led to "you've had X months to work out bugs and need more time?!"

but modern games where i spend significant amounts of money I do have high expectations, esp when i have spent a hell of a lot of money on extra hardware specifically to get the most out of them.
Just out of curiosity, nothing more.

Have you took a 'proper' look around any of the EDO settlements whilst visiting them? There are a lot of details, not particularly relevant to any missions etc., in the settlements that just exist to add 'atmosphere' and serve no purpose at all otherwise.

Have you even looked at the nose of a Courier in EDO?

Not needed, in the least, minor detail, indeed...

Plenty of 'fluff' added to EDO that is probably rarely noticed... Solely because it isn't screaming "look at this!" but rather only adding to ambience.

No, no cutting-edge graphics in EDO, it is true, but much more detail added that may never be noticed by those rushing to complete 'the grind'.

yep there are definitely nice touches in elite dangerous, I haven't specifically looked up in ED:O closely like I did with ED:H but I dont generally complain about the visuals in elite (of course there are parts which could be better, some details are great , some are less so, but in general I don't think elite is poor in that regard...... up close in general I would say serviceable, at a distance good. but that is just me
but if I. gonna talk about ED:Os looks then ....
the things which feel dated to me are the character animations as well as the lack of interactivity and the on foot gameplay just feels a bit janky to me..... you can reign hell on a small base and other than a few transient scuff marks zero. effect.

hell even srv tracks seem to have been culled and that is a very poor show indeed (deliberate or bug it's still a poor show Imo)
