Argh still can't portal into freighter with 3.91...
They let you portal out of the freighter no issue...
FUML2kUWUAEL858
But you still have to fly the ship in still, not able to select the portal to go back to the freighter...

So finally done stupid fleet managment, no access remotely still to the screens, you still have to actually move to the freighter... boo...

NMS for macOS and iPad apparently.

NMS supports more and more platforms while ED support less and less.

Even more amazingly, they're doing it using their own proprietary game engine, built from scratch. Unlike game devs who use Unity or Unreal with out-of-the-box deployment to a huge range of platforms, Hello Games has had to do it themselves. Makes you wonder if they'll ever release their game engine in competition with the others.

I have started playing this again after a few good years of break (last time before that was before the vehicles were introduced to the game, so really a good while ago!). I must say that the VR implementation in this game is amazing. I never enjoyed NMS that much due to its emphasis on crafting/survival, which as with most games of that type meant enormous grind (forced, not optional), but VR changes everything.

Hopefully using good old hands to do everything in game won't get old anytime soon. Absolutely love it!

Their VR implementation is very cool. I loved the first 30 mins working out all the new controls. Grabbing the in-game flight stick in your ships is great, the little multi-tool pop-up to select modes with your other hand, mini-jumps or tiny teleports as an option to move around.... Hello Games just "gets it" when it comes to VR. I so wish FDev could have done likewise in Odyssey. Sigh.

What about Linux?
Wouldn't surprise me if they'll do that too eventually. Considering SteamDeck runs on Linux Arch and even though NMS runs fairly decent on it (Proton), it would be even better if it ran directly on the OS. So who knows, maybe they'll do that next?

These guys are just nuts. 😆

I wonder if the Apple version is automatically included in the Steam account then? It would be kind'a cool if I can sync and play on my PC and my Mac (yes, I have both).

But I'm not sure I want to play it on an iPad. Never liked first person games on phones or pads.

It's not a huge leap from MacOS to Linux, and with the Steam Deck gaining traction it seems likely they'll get to it. Give them time.
Very true. Wasnt't MacOS originally based on a Linux distro, I think? But even so, it is a *nix based OS and fairly standardized compilers etc.
