Haha, his experience reminded me very much of when (in original beta) I tried to take off for the very first time in the Sidewinder in ED. And, well, let's never talk about my first 'landing'....

That's a little too tin foil hattery, even for here.like shadow investors buying into the online marketing venture via the shell companies or some other skullduggery going on somewhere.

Oh dear - I think I'd prefer a ship resembling bunnie crossbow man to something that resembles the Nemesis of the Star Wars franchise...My reaction to the newly released work in progress imaging of the BMM (thanks to reddit for this pic)...seems it's had a Carrack style nose job

That's not quite how it looked in concept...

Yep, people on SaltEMike's discord noticed the same: a bunch of Escape From Tarkov streamers all simultaneously started streaming SC instead. Not that I have been paying much attention to who streams what in twitch, but I have just noticed a few reasonably large view number twitch streamers, at least for SC standards, in the last couple days, so I took a quick look. They all seem to have started streaming SC recently (days, weeks), and they all seem to play mostly Tarkov. Could be just a coincidence though.
That's an interesting observation and reflects somewhat the crypto market - they are both "liquidity sponges", which people will invest in when they feel they have spare cash to plow into something speculative. We have recently seen the crypto market tank, because central banks are now applying liquidity leeches to their economies, drawing out spare cash (or the perception of it at least). We should, if everything is being reported correctly, see the same thing with CIGs funding. The grey market is always a good indicator as to Star citizen's relevance to the backers, new and old...and if Ci¬G's marketing strategies are continuing to be effective or if folk are beginning to show a general disinterest through a load of selling but no buyers. As long as the grey market continues to be fairly healthy with that 25% - 40% mark down to keep the bulk buyers and resellers interested, Ci¬G will be quite happy.
Yeah there's a few. And it's entertaining to watch, but the ones I've been watching are entertaining to watch playing Tarkov too, for their general silliness and making themselves laugh despite the game. Not that I have been paying much attention to who streams what in twitch, but I have just noticed a few reasonably large view number twitch streamers, at least for SC standards, in the last couple days, so I took a quick look. IMHO it's more accurate to state that Alpha is a development Phase, rather than a measure of product state and a Phase where the product's components are being assembled to a certain quality criteria, before it can move into Beta.
Makes perfect sense if it's money laundering....Yeah something's off somewhere. All the other measures of sentiment haven't surged in the same way since 2020. Everything's... fine. Just not booming like the tracker.
So yeah, could be bonus investments getting bundled into the tracker. Or the sale upticks allowing for more purchases from a whale core / greater capture of new potential whales etc. Or a combo or something. Still feels like we're missing an element though yeah.
When I google "server mesh technologies" I get nine (9) results all of them jobs for CIG network programmers.
"server mesh technologies" - Google Search
That means that CIG ask for programmers to have a specific term on their CV that only means anything to CIG.
Think about that...
Lotsa whales in the sea apparently....Just the 13 positions open for network engineers at the mo then.
But yeah, is kinda weird to see them point to the Citcon SM presentation in half of the job specs.

On a complete tangent though, what the hell is this fraud warning about?

Is the race for guileless devs really this fraught?![]()
The dismissive use of "it's alpha" as an excuse for literally every shortcoming does come with an implication that there will be an end to the alpha, and that SC will be significantly different when it ends. But you're exactly right, no one is able to say specifically which features are required to be present before the alpha ends, not even Chris Roberts. There's no target for them to achieve, so how is it even an alpha? In reality it's a proof of concept tech demo that's still in some sort of pre-production blue sky development phase, while at the same time selling DLC as if it's a fully operational live service.IMHO it's more accurate to state that Alpha is a development Phase, rather than a measure of product state and a Phase where the product's components are being assembled to a certain quality criteria, before it can move into Beta.
I very much doubt any CIG advocate or CIG themselves, would want too much scrutiny in that direction however, as it then puts their pet project on a Full Development Lifecycle progress tracker and I'm not sure the results would be visually impressive, nor drive any more funding.
Worse than that of course would be to provoke questions like "What is the feature set required to be completed before the product enters Beta?", or "What are the quality criteria for those features that need to be met before the product enters Beta?" and of course the coup de grace "In the absence of answers to the previous questions, what can we call the current product or phase, development is currently in, as it is clearly not Alpha?". One might reasonably therefore conclude that Star Citizen is nothing more than a CryEngine Mod and a perpetual one at that, as there is no way for it to progress to Beta or Release.
I would say that I'm amazed that the Gaming press haven't started asking these very pertinant questions and coming to the same or other conclusions, but then I remember that there are very few actual journalists left in the world and they have been supplanted by paid activists instead.
