Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Congratulations on getting better than what CIG's own telemetry says such GPUs get on average.

I'm not saying you're lying of course. CIG's own data states you're lying though

🤷‍♂️

It's true, you could argue they haven't even delivered one sun yet.
Lucky us the helmet flash-light is powerful enough to light the planet enough to see the scenery once in a while.

This guy Break (not the same as full time twitch streamer Break) has less than 50 views on his videos which he has been posting for a year, then more views for Project Zomboid, then 1.5k views a month ago for a SC video, back to 50 views until 12 days ago when he posts his goodbye to ED video, despite never having posted a video on it.

14000 views.

Since then, back to 50 views, a few hundred etc.

He must be really thankful you guys are desperately crawling youtube looking for ED vs SC videos.
I think we have to give credit to Gologt there for the increase in viewership of SC content vs ED, NMS, EvE, etc
That's some dedication right there.

Never underestimate the spite-pledging power of Elite bad, SC good.

Like I said - 5900X and 1070:

Imagine buying a 5900X and only getting 42FPS average in a game, damn.
looks like you need some help here, this system organizes each component based on a score, it is not strange to find the same component (for example a 3080ti - GPU score 325 / 425 etc) in different boxes of the table since this score can have lttle variations according to each case, believe it or not the truth is that my pc with a gtx1070 (GPU score 150 - CPU score 300) gives an average of 48.7 making the game completely playable, we'll see how things change with vulkan, but for now I am satisfied with the experience that the game gives me with this old GPU :)

That's how averages work.
That telemetry is taking the average from the R9 3900x + the 1070 though, I get slightly higher because of the 3070ti and 64 Gb of system ram even though I only run an R7 3700x and I run SC at 1440p on ultra settings. As with all PC bits and pieces averages, there's too many variables to be accurate with such a generalised mapping system.

There's a difference between a light source and a sun. I have seen the video where they flew through the surface of the sun and to the interior. Technically if you consider a sun as just a light source yes they have one, but you don't burn up when you get to close and they don't have prominences and flares and you can just fly your ship right through it, so it is not properly modeled as a star. Now really that wouldn't be an issue if you weren't able to fly up to and inside it, plenty of games have a light source as sun but it's pretty poor in a space ship flying game to do that, but it works find in RDR2 and etc.

They do seem to be an ideal citizen.

(Let's hope they don't join the conveyor belt of grey market cash outs. Years of perma-alpha can do that to a person ;))

---

Now indulge me mate. Whenever we get a zealous new friend like yourself, it's nice to actually discuss the game itself.

So for example:
  • How do you expect the AI to perform in 3.17.2? (Given the addition of the Orison mission and the surface troops.)
  • When do you expect 'Static Server Meshing' and Pyro to hit the PU?
  • When do you imagine CIG will push the player cap above 50? (And is such a change important to you?)
  • What ballpark year would you expect SC to reach an official beta state?

I understand of course that you're absolutely giddy with SC's current state of play ;). But I'm sure you'd like to see it improve too. And have some timeframes in mind for those forwards steps.

So like, Beta in 5 years would you say? SQ42 in less?

I'd consolidate into some larger ships that will be taking a lot longer to earn in game than all of these ships combined.

small ships will easy to earn ingame !! grab one big ship that interest you and couple smaller ones to change things up and earn some credits to support it

You do! not enough "big"
:D
BUY MOAR BIG STUFF

This is the way.
Next in line will be the 400i, (i've upgraded mine for the mercury, because it was more useful atm, but i believe that next IAE the X1 will already be out, so the combo will be no brainer.

But totally not pay to win!

Love how they urge OP to spend more and more.

This is your brain on Store Citizen.

So who built the game backwards???

As i said, CIG.

None of what you said actually addresses how you should develop a software product. All you did was "But Elite!", and there are plenty of criticisms out there about how FD have developed that game as well. In other words, pointing to a pile of poo and saying your pile of poo is the better pile of poo is not a good look.

One thing you most definitely don't do is create a ton of release level assets before you've even got the fundamentals sorted out. And if you're going to promise people that there will be big space battles with hundreds or thousands of people all in the same area, its probably best to check to see if you can actually do that early on, rather than backsliding and slowly letting your players down 10 years later.

CIG was built on dreams.txt, and what CIG deliver is reality.txt. And the difference between what backers were sold and what is delivered is huge.

Don't get me wrong, what they have delivered (when it works) is cool. Although i'm not a fan of some of their gameplay choices (but that's fine, its totally normal), there are some good things there as well.

But how they've gone about developing the game over the last 10 years is just one ginormous flustercluck.
