Console Profile Transfers and 2022 Updates

i really don't understand why frontier just didn't put the effort to at least release on current gen (series and ps5 ). they would have made some money and not angered the console community. people on old gen would have understood and most would have probably upgraded eventually. confusing.
How do we know they haven't tried that and failed?

Greetings Commanders,

We’d like to thank you all for your patience whilst we’ve been working on our communications and development plans for the remainder of the year.

Following the launch of Odyssey, our primary focus has been on performance, optimisation and bug fixing, along with adding more features. This focus has had a knock-on effect with regards to our plans for this year and beyond and delayed our communications.

We understand the concern and frustration this has caused and hope this post goes some way to alleviate those feelings. Below we discuss profile transfers for console players and give an overview of the updates coming before the end of 2022.

Console Profile Transfers

We can now confirm that players will be able to copy their profiles from console to PC in light of Odyssey’s cancellation on Xbox and PlayStation. This process will be time limited and optional. We will provide a date for this process once it is confirmed.

The original profile will remain playable on console and the new PC profile will be a copy. Only one profile may be copied over per copy of the game. Please also be aware that this will be a one-time only process.

Elements that will be copied
  • Ships, Holo-Me, weapons, SRVs and SLFs
    • Including Cobra Mk IV if owned
  • Core progression (this includes…)
    • Inventory
    • Reputation
    • Navy Ranks
    • Permits
    • Codex Discoveries
    • Engineering progress
    • Guardian Tech Broker progress
  • NPC Crew progress
  • Cosmetics*
*Cosmetic items applied through the Livery (ships and Fleet Carriers) and Holo-Me will remain applied.

Elements that won’t be copied
  • Commander name*
  • ARX Balance**
  • Squadron membership
  • Friends lists, Block lists and Private Groups
  • Current mission progress
  • NPC Crew names and appearances

*The process will require a new name to be chosen if the original name is not available on PC.

**ARX balances cannot be transferred. We recommend that anyone who submits their account for the transfer process purchases any desired cosmetics beforehand. Any unspent ARX post-transfer will remain available on the original console profile.

Fleet Carriers and their contents

Fleet Carrier ownership cannot be transferred from one Commander to another. To players that wish to own a Fleet Carrier post-transfer we would advise the following:
  1. Decommission your Fleet Carrier ahead of the transfer
  2. Wait for the decommissioning to complete (two weeks).
  3. Check that credits from the decommissioning have been returned.
  4. Complete the profile transfer process
  5. Re-purchase a Fleet Carrier on PC
Precise dates for the opening and close of this process will be announced closer to the time.

Roadmap

Here we present our top-level roadmap for the remainder of 2022. Our three focuses before the year ends are launching the next phase of the narrative, stability and optimisation. We’ll release three more updates to support these.

Within the narrative, human space balances on the precipice as tension mounts within the bubble. The Azimuth Saga will conclude in a grand finale event, the consequences of which will mark the beginning of the next stage of the Elite story in Update 14.

Meanwhile, updates 12 and 13 will largely focus on quality-of-life changes, stability and optimisation. Work has also begun on a major feature overhaul for 2023 that we’ll discuss later in the year.

Please note that the details and timings of each release are subject to change and that any adjustments will be shared ahead of time. Beyond this we are also discussing additional game content, and we’ll reveal it once confirmed.

Development Updates and Streams

Following the launch of Odyssey in 2021, we started publishing monthly development posts to share our progress on subsequent updates. In light of the remaining updates for 2022 being confirmed above, these will not continue. However, we will still provide detailed patch notes, information, and other relevant details around updates and hotfixes as they are released between each development post.

Regular streams from the Community team have returned. Going forwards, these will be fortnightly on Thursdays at 16:00-18:00 BST. This additional time between streams will allow us to put on longer shows and take full advantage of the in-office studio. Frameshift Live has only just started and we have many exciting ideas to explore in the future! If you have not been watching, these streams now feature new and exclusive Twitch Drops that can be earned simply by watching.

We will also be launching our Partnership Programme later this year, offering content creators their own exclusive Twitch drops their communities can earn by watching them. More on this in the coming months!

We hope this post clarifies our continued support and plans for Elite. As always, we thank you for your feedback and support.

Hello!

I would like to ask, could you provide the account transfering from PS4 to PC now by method that you suggest before the consloe development cancellation? You had a form on the website and offed to transfer just credit equivalent of all my goods on console account.
I don't want to wait whole year for new transfer procedure. I just my credits and play now on PC.
Could you do it for me, please?

For just credits, ask someone with a fleetcarrier to help out.

These things are not dealt with on the forums.
You need to open a support ticket

And that's my conundrum.

My PC, XB, and PS cmdrs all have the same handle. My PS cmdr far exceeds my other two in assets, ranks, and light years. My PC cmdr was created back when ED launched.

When all is said and done, I want my PS cmdr brought over to PC with the handle intact.
Same here. I've played hours upon hours on XBox, bought it on PC when I finally got a PC, but opted not to "cash out" my XB account because just credits isn't enough. Then on PC, I mainly just played around in Odyssey beta, not having the time to grind like crazy to get to where my XB progress was.
Having to choose between keeping your commander name when you already have it both places (it's important to me to be "Pailzor") and keeping your progress kinda sucks. I have no need for two accounts on the same platform, and don't want to buy Odyssey again. I already paid for the base game and Horizons twice.

Once this transfer thing is live, I'd really like the option to replace my PC account with the XB one, so I can have my name, XB progress, and Odyssey license that I already paid for. I don't know if deleting the current PC account data would even allow me to have my name on the XB transfer, or if it would still be considered in-use.

Yes, AFAIK you can do exactly this while keeping any bling that you bought for your PC commander. You'll also keep the XB account in case you want to play on XB sometimes.

No, you will be given a completely new PC Horizons account it seems I assume linked to your console email address.
So I have a console account (Xbox) with my email, and I also have logged in on PC (Epic) using the same email to play (however the CMDR is different as it's ED isn't a cross platform game).

Will I have to use a new email or can I just log in on PC after transfer and my console CMDR will be there waiting? What happens to the PC CMDR? I would love to keep playing my console CMDR on PC actually and not ever use my old PC CMDR.

What if I use the same email address on Xbox as I do for frontier. Sorry if that's a dumb question I just really want to get it right the 1st time lol

My question too

I'm hoping I can have my existing PC (Steam account) deleted, so I can transfer my PS account to a new account within the same Steam/email.
I'm not making a new Steam account or email just for one game.

"If you no longer wish to use our Services, you can contact our support team and ask for your account to be deleted."
Has this question been answered anywhere?

I definitely do not want to have a new email address just for this game as I use my Xbox account email as my PC account email already.
I have an email address tied to my ED XB account
I have another email address tied to my Steam account (and i have Horizons + Odyssey here) - which predates my XB account
I have another email address tied to my EPIC account (and i have Horizons + Odyssey here too)

Having separated emails tied to each account really helped me to keep thing...well... separated
I'm the opposite.

I just want to be able to log into a single one "Frontier" launcher with one email and be able to choose from various "saves" of CMDR profiles to play in. Regardless if they are created on PC or transferred from console.

If you've got a Gmail account Fdev sees suffixes as separate logins.

Side Note - maybe I could request FULL deletion of my current PC account to free up the email, as it's the one I use for my console as well.
Bad idea. It may lead to the deletion of associated console data as well.

Your best option is changing the current login e-mail to a suffixed one and later, when migration happens, get a PC account created on the former non-suffixed mail.

Regarding suffix:

Oh damn good call. And thanks for the suffix info!

When you say "changing the current login e-mail to a suffixed one" you mean my current PC CMDR account? If so, where do you even change that? Somewhere when logged into the webpage on the Frontier site?

That's not possible.
But various email providers offer the feature named: email alias.
gmail mentioned above seem to allow that, outlook.com (iirc hotmail.com / live.com too) also allows aliases (completely custom aliases - assuming they're free ofc)

they will give you a frontier account - which account you can then link to your steam account (however, it would probably not work if you already have elite on steam)

But, they did said they can migrate in an existing pc account, but you'd have to do a clear save prior the migration

Best to wait till the migration process is started and then contact support.

Thanks all, this is some great info....more than what was officially provided!

Yeah I may have to wait till there's more concrete info and they can provide a clear set of options. I do use Gmail so hopefully it'll work out.

Here's my main issue in the steps that they happened...

1) downloaded and registered account for ED on my Xbox using my everyday email
2) played and made progress on Xbox
3) enjoyed it and wanted to see what ED on PC (via Epic) was like, so went to register, but said my email was already in use
4) logged in on PC (via Epic) with my same Xbox account - said welcome Xbox One User - but had to start a new CMDR
5) name on Frontier ED web page while logged in through my Xbox account email and PC account email (at the moment they are the same email and password) is first name: XBOX ONE, last name: USER
5) look in Third Party Accounts section and it says linked to Xbox Account

So I'm kind of afraid of if I alias my current PC email login that it may mess up my Xbox email login if they are so-called "linked" no? Or should I unlink them THEN alias my PC account email login.

Ideally it would work that I right now:
1) simply unlink my Xbox account in Third Party Accounts page
2) alias my PC CMDR email to something like "xxxxx+PConly@gmail.com" to have it become a "unique" PC account login
3) make sure my same old unaliased Xbox email works for actual on-Xbox play
4) wait then accept the console to PC transfer and continue with my unaliased Xbox email on PC into the stars and beyond

I don't really care about my PC CMDR (would fully accept him being wiped out of existence) and am hoping to just move forward on PC with my Xbox CMDR post transfer.

Bonus question: I'm actually playing through Xbox Game Pass at the moment, so I would just at some point have to buy ED on Xbox in order to be eligible for transfer and free Horizons PC license?

Double bonus question: post-transfer all our console CMDRs will be on Horizons on PC correct? Will there be a way to upgrade them into Odyssey? It is just a purchase through your respective launchers (Steam/Epic) or can you just launch directly from ED's launcher?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to do it right the first time lol.

On the account I'm going to copy my console main to the launcher welcomes me with my name, on the new exploration account that shares an email with an alt on console it welcomes me as 'Playstation 4 User'.
The accounts themselves aren't linked.

Adding Odyssey to a PC account is simple. (This is kind of why we're transferring in the first place)

Each commander has to be linked to a Frontier account, which has to be linked to an email address.
So your XB commander should have behind it an XB account with an email address and based on that account a frontier account was created and linked to your xb account
Now if you have an Epic account, created with the same email address as you XB account ... that means trouble
Initially i had it like that too.

To avoid any issues (i'm using an outlook.com account) i created an email alias in my outlook account, and i changed the email address for my Epic account.
Then i could easily link my epic account to a new frontier account.

So now i have my XB account (on the main email account), the Epic account on an alias to my main account, and a Steam account created long time ago on a completely different email account.
No issues, no mix-ups (although i had to create some folders and some move rulles in my Outlook account so the mailsi receive for the alias address are kept in a separated folder)
