Thread for publicising your issues that are otherwise expiring due to lack of votes/confirmation

So I guess those infamous NPC identical portrait pictures just got removed and swept under the rug.
local NPC comms panels and scanned ships in your contacts panel, used to show the same annoying identical picture next to NPC pilot text.
But now they seem to be removed entirely.
I have a feeling this one is gonna go right into the bin with all the other reports as "fixed" ...because why fix it if you can just shove it off the table?

My issue report regarding this has been marked “fixed” and to be honest I thought I’d checked it was - if it’s a bug reappearing or just not fixed correctly in the first place and my memory being faulty, I don’t know. I’ve added your report to the OP and I’ll check it out next time I play, adding my confirmations if duplicated 👍

I note that the very next reported issue (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/50964) is a ship-version of the problem. Are any of the “glowy bits” working in Odyssey or is it a case of reporting all the PBR stuff that’s not working correctly?
Yeah, I actually just posted that one last night. I've noticed that with every ship in Odyssey. It's especially noticeable in those side vents on ships, or the main rear engine.
In Odyssey - try taking a sidewinder out in normal space, go stationary and start up the supercruise charge, and go into the camera suite and view the ship. Those side panels on the top that open up will look like orange lego blocks instead of glowing hot grills like you would see in Horizons.

Stuff that used to glow, just doesn't anymore in Odyssey. It seems like a lighting thing with the game engine itself.
Odyssey's lighting has a sharpness and hard lighting that loses the effects of Horizons like the radial blur, soft lighting, and glow.
I'm assuming that it isn't something they can just tweak and fix, it most likely has to do with the entire game engine and the whole way that lighting/shading/contrast works in the game engine would have to be reworked.

My crusade: fixing the DBS so an SRV has proper clearance underneath to deploy and board....

I’ve added your report to the OP. I hope you’ve added a confirmation to the issue - it apparently counts towards the total required 👍

The flight suit and all cosmetics for it are missing specular and emissive texture detail in Odyssey.

Looks like the little glowing suit bits have been removed entirely:

Speaking of things being removed entirely - I've just checked Odyssey and I'm not seeing any NPC portraits at all in the Comms or Contacts :(

I've checked Horizons too and that appears to be the black helmet picture only.

This is the second issue report I've had "fixed" by FDev completely removing something 😅

Edit: added my confirmations to both issues.

Not sure why this thread appeared out of nowhere right now.. but may be it's a sign or something?

There is a serious, MONEY breaking issue that hasn't been fixed for last year. And is f irritating because those kits costs MONEY, you know. Imagine selling s##t kits while having THIS BUG attached to it for entire YEAR.

There are dozens of EXPIRED reports and only one not expired YET:

Not expired YET: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/50412

Expired:

https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/46979 (well, it's kind of HALF fixed, because damage thing was fixed, but not the hardpoints)

What can we do with these s##t kits?

I don’t want to be a creator of false omens - it’s only appeared because I check it (and my VR equivalent thread) daily, and update as necessary while having my breakfast 😁 It means the thread pops up fairly regularly on the DangDis first page.

The “Not expired YET” issue you’ve linked is Confirmed and Acknowledged by FDev, so it’s not in any danger of expiry at all 👍

Can you vote, pls? Thank you.

Sorry, but my six votes are all tied up with VR issues and the missing planet white dots. Hopefully owners of the ship kit will see to it.

Seeing as the issue was Acknowledged by FDev with only one user contribution rather than the usual required ten or eleven, it looks like something that’s fairly big on their radar.

Mining in Odyssey has been badly affected by this intermittent bug. When I say intermittent - it's like 1 in a few times the bug does not occur. Triggering a pulse wave does not highlight core, surface and subsurface asteroids. If you do stumble across them on asteroids that have no shine at all, the targeting reticle disappears when targeting a deposit, making it impossible to aim at. So sure this is to do with shader optimization or something. It means that only laser mining is viable at present. The bug arrived with Patch 12.

Basically means mining is not viable at present in Odyssey. The difference between a bugged session and a non-bugged session is that you can fill the hold in half the time for multi-method mineral, whilst core-only mineral - forget it.
