What feature do hope will be updated/refreshed for early 2023?

My thoughts:

Trading: almost every other major profession in the game has had some sort of update, but not trading. Time to give trading some love.

On foot community goals: nuff said, we currently don't have them, a year plus into Odyssey.

Exobiology: while the original concept of the "spinning wheels" was lackluster, I'd would like to see something, anything more then just a "point and shoot" method of scientific research lol.

CQC: would love to see this invigorated somehow, as right now no one uses this and it could be great if revamped somehow.

Hi all,

One final post on this, between this thread and reddit there were about 100 responses that I could use (made things really easy maths wise) so here are the results from this small sample.

I suspect that outside of this forum powerplay might have not got as much backing as it did but overall, it felt that most feel we up for another round of Engineering Changes and the more hoped for system is Crime and Punishment.

Thanks everyone for their opinions and you can hear our discussion over at https://laveradio.com/lave-radio-episode-397/

No one wants a revamp of ground engineering ? Like getting 3 materials per grab as with ships, like exchangeable modules on the weapons and suits ? No one even mentioned on foot VR ?

No one even mentioned on foot VR ?
it was mentioned in this thread..... but you have to remember many of the dedicated VR players have already moved on..... I cant say how many but can only speak for those few i gamed with, as well as myself. (I do still dabble with the game from time to time however)
In general i have given up asking for it ........... last time i got invested in a topic on VR I got ridiculed by specifically 1 poster (now banned it seems) but the general feeling was shut up and move on............ so i have for the most part.

They mentioned it but as I said in the original post they said they were reworking an existing feature, so I listed the favourite topics that come up again and again.

For real? Nobody wanted engineering?

They just don't bother. My guess is that the pre-engineered stuff is enough to never engage with the mat collection crap and simply be done with it.

Don't let the forum get you down. It's full of argumentative people that like to troll each other and is not representative of the company itself..

That said, I don't know how much hope one can hold out for improved VR. FDev has said quite clearly that there are no plans at the moment, who knows if that means forever or if it will be worked on at a later date. My impression was that they will consider bug fixing and that VR in space and SRV ought to work well, while on foot VR is left in burka purgatory. Still seeing the general state of EDO, I'm sure they have far bigger issues to contend with at the moment..

I agree realistically full fat VR is likely very low down on their priority list........ My hope which i think is more plausible in the short term would be revisiting that camera hack tweaking it a bit, and officially supporting it with a button press to set it up automatically. (maybe even with small print that it is experimental)

Seriously, No-one wanted engineering getting another pass with the exception of Shan on the Show. Even then he felt that all that the things engineering really needed are ;-
  1. easier way to gain Mats
  2. nerf the powerplant so the ships have to be balanced. I.e. You can have those super overpowered beam lasers but it means that you'll have weaknesses in other parts of your ships (i.e. thrusters or shields). People never like things being 'Taken away' from them but its one of those things that will be painful to begin with but probably best for the game in the long run.

I agree here. Ship engineering is mostly fine. The most annoying part of it is still HGE farming for G5 engineered materials still though. Not so much the farming itself, but the RNG in finding what you need. On foot gear engineering is much much worse.

I disagree that 'nerfing' the Powerplant, or 'taking away' stuff would be better for the game, it is already barebones in many things, removing the 'fun' in one of the few things the player has control of already would guarantee to lose this player - but I'm sure some players would love less...

Gathering mats for engineering has never been tedious for me, maybe as I never needed stuff "NOW!" and by the time I started playing with engineering I already had plenty of mats, and they are easily obtained to replace those used. (assuming, naturally, that one doesn't have a very limited play style)

It's how it was sold to us. Sidegrades. I have no idea how and why the powercreep got in. My theory is that they reviewed, found the whole thing grindy and chhanged the power levels to 11 to make it "worthwhile". Or it was the plan all along and they just told us nollocks about the plans.

You know, when it's horizon engineers being talked about: Probably everyone in the audience is done with it and wouldnt touch it with a pole anymore. You engineer your stuff and never do it again once you have a decent level.
