I found NEW traces of Thargoids on other side of the center!

If you don't already know, I've been doing exploration streams for past month or so (16 streams, each 2-5h) and I've gone to Zurara, then Colonia and now I'm on other side of the galactic center, doing random exploration. Recently I stumbled on terraformable landfall planet (thanks to ED Observator tool) and found nonhuman signatures on it.

What are Thargoids doing WAY over there? It seems like they have shown some interest in this specific planet, because I checked everything else in that system and no traces of them, I have further explored about 30-40 neighbouring systems, but haven't found anything there either (haven't mapped every single planet tho).

Has anyone ever found any signs of Thargoids so far out in middle of nowhere?
Clearly this region is way too big for me to explore on my own, so I thought I'll post it here for those who'd be interested in looking further. I never tried it myself, but I heard that you can use thargoid probe (or sensor?) to find their structures by jettisoning one in the space and then it points towards closest thargoid structure (or something like that). So maybe someone wants to go out there and check it out.
 
Didn't Canonn do a map of thargoid sensors found in the various regions in the black? All over the galaxy if I recall, on moons of ammonia rich gas giants.
 
It's the same reason you get crashed ships and escape pods in the middle of nowhere, because the algorithm says so.
It's "content" by procedural design = User Generated Stories.
 
You have to be within a certain distance of civilisation to find those, once you get out in the deep black they stop altogether.

You can be 500 to 1000ly+ from the bubble, and there's literally multiple crash sites and strange installations on every planet.
It's laughable. It's like there's been a crash convention at every planet, in a bubble around the bubble.

There are limits to procedural content generation, especially if done by rote with a limited set of options.
There is no substitute for well crafted curated content to explore, but unfortunately that takes more effort & resources than FDev is prepared to invest.

Yes as I said you have to be a certain distance away, you obviously haven't got far enough away, out past 3kly you won't see any at all and out past 1.5kly to 2kly they thin out a lot! I agree the fall off should be greater, but that's the way it is. The point stands, you will only found them around civilised area and not out in the black, I mean 500ly to 1kly, that's barely a dozen a dozen jumps for a decent explorer and 2 jumps for a Fleet Carrier!

The whole "deep black" thing itself is a bit silly, really. I've been ~10K out, and the lack of real planetary variety, geology, & ecosystems makes exploration quite a dull task.
400 Billion star systems is technically correct for marketing, and they were quite smart not to mention "with fascinating planets to explore!", because they aren't any.

Black is black. When you are outside the "official bubble" & your ship is fracked up or runs out of magic space go juice, you're in deep isht whether you're 50, 500, or 5000, or 10000 Ly from "the bubble". The only difference is if you can convince the FR or someone to rescue you. Even in the bubble, tbh.
Plus, you can suicide anytime, and you'll be back in the bubble instantly. That's really deep black, isn't it. Instant teleport.

It's ridiculous to have every planet in a 1000ly+ even spherical distribution around "the bubble" overpopulated with wrecks, escape pods, and mysterious installations you can't open. Then they arbitrarily stop at some point, do a little fall off, bingo, nothing, just another 400 Billion star systems of the same old thing, only missing the crashed starship conventioneers. If you're really lucky, you might get an extra special skinner box loot drop.

It doesn't matter that a 70LY ship could traverse 1000LY in 13 jumps or so, the point is the number of stars within that volume and the believability of each planet being distributed with wreckage/installations in that amount.

If it was in any way semi-realistic the distribution of human exploration would be in a limited number of radials projecting from the bubble, and it would number less than a mere few hundred, and still not involve coming across large numbers of wreckage or installations.

It's just lazy design. Not to mention, they all look and act exactly the same (more or less, all drawn from the same small pool of assets).

Once you break the suspension of disbelief, you can't go back. That's my point.

In the context of the discussion there is a significant difference to being 50Ly vs 10,000Ly from the bubble. Dropoff of human trash with respect to distance from civilization should be expected. I would expect an exponential dropoff with distance.

You can be 20ly or 20,000ly from the bubble, zero difference.
As for exponential dropoff, sure, trail off the human detritus of failed expeditions however you like over whatever scale you like, but I was talking about the over-saturation & repetitive nature of it.

that only happens within explored systems, if system has not been explored, nothing spawns there. I think on Odyssey launch there was a bug and stuff spawned everywhere, but it was fixed quite fast.

well this is first time I ever see anything like this and it's on terraformable landfall planet, which makes it that more interesting. Seems like it's there for a reason.

So that is a destroyed thargoid sensor and its fragments. I've never seen those anywhere outside of traditional thargoid space so that is very interesting.

Edit: I should have read @DrinkyBird 's post. Didn't realize these were popping up all over now.

The odyssey bug was corrected a long time ago. I was in beagle point when it was corrected, and I have experienced this correction on my way.

I'd love this to be significant but it would be far from the first time they unfixed a previously fixed bug. They haven't exactly had the greatest track record with their code merges particularly with large updates.

Nothing new; Thargoid artefacts have had a (pretty rare) chance of randomly appearing on planets since Odyssey released. (I think people even found them during the alpha.)
Doesn't particularly mean anything (yet, if ever).
Same as it ever was, random procedural spawn at work again.

We need a space shanty about an explorer traversing the "deep black" 20K ly from known civilization, only to come across a planet loaded with thargoid :poop: , so they immediately suicidewinder themselves to get back to the bubble to report this compelling new evidence of thargoid spread across the galaxy.

Just found a Non-human Signal on a planet near coordinates -3400 : -2650 : 26000.

26000 ly from the Bubble, nearly 9000 ly from Colonia. Completely unexplored volume of space, towards Sag A* and way below the galactic plane.

Not an ammonia world. Rocky world, sulphur dioxide atmosphere, orbiting a class T brown dwarf, which is in turn orbiting a black hole.

Those Thargoids get about!



ETA: another one on a rocky, terraformable world with no atmosphere at all. Same system. Orbiting another (different) Class T brown dwarf.

If you're looking to have someone else verify your find, then giving just the coordinates is mostly useless. The system's name and the planet's name would be needed.
That said, if there's a planet with ammonia life (Gas Giant with Ammonia-based Life, or IIRC Ammonia World) in the system, then the NHS-es will appear on the other bodies. Also, they spawn all over the galaxy.
