Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So from announcement, I'm expecting to see new graphics in EDH??
As I understand it, if you elect to play EDH 4.0, you'll see upgraded graphics e.g. what they term "planetary tech". So, yes, new in a sense. Obvs you won't get on foot stuff. There'll probably be graphical enhancements elsewhere too.

If you elect to play EDH 3.8 you'll remain as is graphics wise.

EDO players just get downtime :D

I am making an assumption here that you'll see 3 options from the launcher:

EDO
EDH 4
EDH 3.8

Maybe someone can correct me if this is wrong.

I posted a question about reverting if things go awry in EDO but no-one has replied yet.

Oh yay, love to see new graphics, and some improvements to the fitting screen I hope.

And the Scropion SRV!!!

I've become addicted to Guardian Gauss Cannons and shooting Thargoid Interceptors and the Scouts with them.
Low Intensity AX Conflict Zones in TEKKEITJAL have both. If you take AX Multi-Cannons, you have nothing or not enough to hit the Interceptor with when it arrives. So I've no choice but to "git gud" with the Gauss Cannons.
It takes a while to chew up a Scout with AX Multi-Cannons. I miss a lot of shots fighting Scouts with the Gauss Cannons, but I hit often enough that the time to kill is at least as good as with AX Multi-Cannons and I can hit the Interceptor when it arrives. I've got 2 pairs of medium plus small gauss on different fire buttons so I can alternate and have quite a quick fire rate. Land 2 to 3 of those and the Scout pops. Sometimes I'm a fool and fire all 4 at once against an Interceptor, which is instant heat damage.

I'm no where near soloing an Interceptor yet, but I can hold my own in a group fight. Always others commanders around in open.
8 million credits for assisting an Interceptor kill helps to keep the fleet carrier maintained.

I preferred the old outfitting to be honest...

I find the Ody outfitting screen really confusing. It seems to mix up things you've got in storage with what the station has.

I would, and did, agree with all this back when Odyssey was on test and just launched but now I am familiar with it I think it is fine.

The fact that stored modules are no longer only accessible only via a single column list of every module you own, that isn’t fitted on a ship, that is usually ordered to make stuff hard to spot is a huge improvement.

That is by design and you get used to it.

It does that so that you know you already have a module of that type and don't have to buy one. Example: I wanted to put a 6A fuel scoop on a new ship, so I hit a 6 slot, hit fuel scoop and notice that I already have one at a base a few jumps away. So rather than paying the 6 million and change for a new one, I can simply transfer the one I already have for a few thousand credits and have it in a few minutes.

It also makes switching loadouts a lot faster as you'll get used to what you have where. Example: you're changing your Python from a core mining setup to a laser mining setup, you dock, go to outfit and just swop the gear out highlighted for you because it's already there and easy to see.

btw, I forgot where the keybind stored? wanna backup first before update to EDH4.0

I'm currently heading out into the back of beyond in my Asp Explorer, to see if I can find any more stuff to plaster my name over. (I said "any more" because as I mentioned elsewhere, I'm a returning user having not played since about 2016 and back then I was first to discover quite a few things.)

I'm currently about 1300 LY from Sol and heading towards the outer rim of the galaxy, but so far it's all discovered.

Thank you for all those paths! I only previously knew about and backed up the key bindings files.
