Didn't see any auto-update on STEAM, but PLAY was available so I clicked it. Saw the new Horizons 4.0 option. Clicked it. Now it is updating. Assume this is normal? Was confused that the usual update via STEAM didn't seem to have queued.

EDIT: OK saw another post to this effect. All seems operating as intended. Was afraid I would get busted back to a Sidewinder with 0 credits ;) LOL remains to be seen once I actually get in game.

Tested Horizons 4.0 no problems.
Tested Odyssey 4.0 crashed to desktop after exiting station.

Everything just as great as always. 😜👍

FYI Hedelma I got both versions steam and epic Ed horizons with and without odyssey.

If I had to guess, and I am doing exactly that, I would guess that there is content coming up that they don't want for people to be able to work together on if they don't own Odyssey.

So if you don't own Odyssey, you either partake in the upcoming content alone, or you upgrade so you can play with your friends. There's no going back.

It's about selling Odyssey. Plain and simple.

Considering Bruce's reply earlier, starting to feel the same, which is super scummy if that's the case.

As if it wasn't enough that the galaxy is split into 2 (or 3), versions because of different version codebase and we have to constantly switch modes to play with friends that don't own Odyssey. Why on earth can't we Odyssey owners cannot access Hor 4.0 and instance with our friends?
This is a very strange, lets say, decision, because i want to use another word.

So, all the free copies of Horizons 4.0 given to console players via the transfer process were actually stolen from Odyssey players, is that why we don't have access?

Seriously though, I would rather upgrade 3.8 to 4.0 and loose 3.8 completely (not for everyone) but the option would be nice

Elite Dangerous BASE GAME is included in there! Hopefully my revised version helps -

Odyssey Players (players who have purchased Odyssey):
  • Elite Dangerous: Odyssey
  • Elite Dangerous: Horizons (3.8)
  • Elite Dangerous (Base Game - pre Horizons)
Horizons Players (players who have not purchased Odyssey):
  • Elite Dangerous: Horizons (4.0)
  • Elite Dangerous: Horizons < This is 3.8
  • Elite Dangerous (Base Game - pre Horizons)
