Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Cabin pressure alert - that ends that fight. Fun with so many other commanders around. Had to leave before Interceptor was dead, so no 8 mil for me this time.

This planet looks like a Dorito that has been dunked in guacamole.

Once again we disagree Gomez. Clearly the Dorito is splattered with versus dipped.

Ummm, guys, what do you think this is? I'm about 6,200 LY out from base in Deciat.

I think that's where you find sensor fragments? I haven't dared yet

just click on post you want to quote on hit the +quote, and in the new reply hit the insert quote button, or the quickest way is too hit reply on the post you want to reply to.

Aye I did that with single quotes - it's the multiple ones that give me a headache. I should be okay with this as I used to post on quite a few forums using variants of phpBB, but these days it's nearly all on Facebook so I'm a bit out of practice. 🤨
For some reason I also struggled to figure this out for a while, but yes. Just hit +quote on everything and then go to the reply box at the bottom of the page where you can 'insert quotes'. You can also change the order of the quotes before confirming them.

If you want to make a general comment first before replying to people, then type that before inserting quotes.

I think I may not be alone picturing Marvin the Martian's cargo falling out in a deep space panic! I read you might be able to cook that stuff off the hull in a corona - not sure if it applies to the cargo hold though! I'd try it if you're in a jam but sure don't know.

A corollary question has occured to me - are Thargoids allies of Bugs Bunny? Or should they be?

Downloaded Horizons 4.0 and gave it a go. Performance (in VR, AMD 6800 XT with recommended drivers, no mods) is ok-ish, I guess. Feels slightly worse than in Horizons 3.8, but not worse than with the 1080 TI in Horizons 3.8. I do get some artefacts when switching between real space and supercruise or docked and flying. Was ready to leave for Colonia yesterday, just took the first step: target an arbitrary system on the edge-ish of one of the neutron fields, excluded white dwarfs from the galmap, told the plotter to use neutron boosts and let it go. Now 6 jumps or so into the trip (only one Neutron so far, Jackson's Lighthouse), landed at an arbitrary small planet.
New graphics are looking good. I can see (and land at) at least some Odyssey bases, no issues with keybinds (so far). Haven't checked yet if I can land on Ody ("sparse atmosphere") worlds yet - or taken the SRV out for mat collecting.

Info on the sensors:

"These strange objects are of Thargoid origin. They have the ability to repair themselves by extracting non-organic material from their immediate environment, and this self-repair mechanism can severely damage starships and other machinery. They can also scan nearby vessels and celestial bodies, and transmit information about the scanned object in an encrypted form."
