Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It's a sensor. The probes don't have the little appendages. They do look similar, though.
Sensor, eh? I was going from memory, I found one in orbit around an Ammonia planet and cargo scooped it but didn't have the anti-corrosive rack and didn't know I needed one until it ate through my cargo hatch. Luckily, I had repair limpets and a couple of AFMU's and I dumped it.

So, I just got done going through an 800+ Ly patch of Brown Dwarfs, I got delirious, jump after jump, same thing. 164 jumps before I broke out, it was like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the 4th of July all rolled in to one, I didn't know how to act I was so happy.

Sounds like a lot of carto data to be handed in!

Oh wow. The drone pilot in The Day The Earth Stood Still is using an X52 Logitech Pro HOTAS. Maybe the budget got tight or they just didn't care because only nerds would spot it. Funny though.

I have two commanders, the second of which is Horizon's only. Running that account on the new Horizons 4.0 client I find it is using the keybindings I set up for my main account on Odyssey. Bit of a surprise because the main account was set up for yaw control on mouse for firing gauss cannons.
I think we'll start hearing from first time 4.0 client users about how their keybindings have gone and don't get restored from their backup....
This is only an issue for those with multiple commanders as you don’t get Horizons 4.0 if you have Odyssey 4.0.

Well, this is interesting. I don't know that I've even heard of anything like this, let alone actually seen anything like it. The blue patterns in what looks like a torso and those sections pulses in and out.

Don’t bend over it to study it in more detail in case something tries to melt through your faceplate.

Thanks for the welcome back. When I first returned, I practised a few things in Horizons for a while as I was trying to get the hang of things once more after being away for such a long time, but I've now upgraded to Odyssey.

I figured I might have to go quite a bit further out than I am now to find the undiscovered stuff and I'll keep heading out for the time being, but might have to return to a space station before that to get some repairs as I've had a few mishaps along the way, including jumping into a system with four stars all very close to each other and I took some heat damage. I've used up all my heat sinks and quite a few of my AFMU thingies but whatever, we'll see how it goes.

I've got a 35LY jump range on my Asp right now, and I've read about the geezer on Iapetus who can almost double that with his magic, but currently I don't have the combat bonds and whatnot to give him a visit. I'm hoping to earn a load more credits from this trip towards the coast of a Mamba to use in combat, but I do enjoy the discovery aspect of the game as well.

Thanks a lot for your advice. :)

Well I think you can be self sufficient and synthesize those from raw materials without making port. You might predate that feature; I'm not sure. It predates me. But if you didn't know, it's in the inventory tab, down a few, synthesis.

I took four SRVs on a long trip some months ago before I knew that myself. Just for the gas. Ha ha!

You're right - I didn't know that and I'll bear your info in mind. :)

Actually I have enough credits right now to buy a Mamba, as I discovered after I hightailed it back to the nearest station to restock consumables and repair damage. (I'm at that one in the California Nebula.) Even though I only discovered and surface scanned stuff that had already been discovered by others on my last trip, it still earned me a ton of cash when I flogged it to Cartographics. :p

Now I'm fully repaired and restocked though, I want to try at least one more trip out to the middle of nowhere and beyond, to try and get some first discovers and not make the mistakes I made last time, having learned a fair bit from that.

Thanks a lot for your advice!

Oh, Cartographics seems to be happy about any discovery that is new to you. I guess the more scans they get, the deeper the detail is they get from it.

Damn feds!
Chased me outta their region...lol.
I've sneaked back in. Avoiding the wanted systems, found a peach!
5 settlements all different factions so I'll scorched earth em one at a time.
Trouble is it's high security system so stealth on approach n dust off is essential. Once looted getting out is...difficult. you've overhead to worry about and on foot that's not good.

All done... few close shaves but yeah looted mucho.

Soz feds

Aye they are aren't they? I've been wondering why they're interested in already discovered stuff, but anyway at least it gives noobs a chance to earn easy cash without having to travel a gazillion LYs out.

Even in the Bubble, if you scan one of the Earthlike / terraforming planets that was first discovered yonks ago you still get at least 800,000 creds I think (at least, I did) so it's well worth doing imo.

Hey I'm out here too just coming back to port from about -1350 Y I was out looking at Andromeda. Been out here a while, there's missions and now I went down in the Perseus Molecular Cloud and its dark region. Some unusual views of "Barnard's Special Area". But I'm leaving too

I am going to fix up, sell up, switch ships and turbo on home. I am becoming afraid those Thardos will infest Altair and kill me mum. So I'm going to soup up something bigger than the Cobra with a big can of bugspray, and go exchange some fire with those scanner nonsenses, for whatever good it does.

I'm certain when the large spinny anomalies arrive, they'll patch things up between us all

Oops, I can't help myself, I guess I should see a doctor.

Yes, if the Earth-Like World lasts more than four hours.
