Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Whoops. Left the window open and didn't refresh before posting... 😅Sorry.

Did I catch that right that planets with geological features have a chance to host some T.?

I think I mentioned earlier that I don't care about these exploit mechanisms, I prefer to play it the intended way, even if it takes longer.

The journey is the reward, not the destination. The destination of this journey is nothing more than the starting point of the next journey. That's my motto.
A laudible policy that means you'll get 3 units of Telerium from the crashed Anaconda site without relogging and then I don't know other than getting a lift on a carrier to the crystal shards sites. The odds of finding it on a planet surface are very small. A different strategy would be to visit a few Guardian ruins sites approx 500-700ly away to collect the components for the Guardian FSD booster which in class 5 size internal slot adds 10.5ly to your jump range. That would give you enough range to reach the crystalline shards site for a max load of Telerium and all other grade 4 raw materials except Selenium.
You could trade any grade 5 encoded materials from mission rewards for Data Mined Wake exceptions. Take Planet Scan missions as the scan also gets you encoded materials you can trade. Do those for Federation factions and get Federation reputation rank at the same time. Collect any salvage you find at High Grade Emissions signal sources you see and trade those manufactured materials for what you need. It will take longer but it will work without relogging.

Now I've unlocked the 'neers, I think I'm going to live in the Colonia area for quite some time... at some point, I need to find a good platinum spot. And it'll be a great staging post for exploration and exobiology - plus, I've found quite a few CZ's now so that takes care of my bloodsport needs.
There are some nice platinum and palladium places to mine, and a triple-overlap for tritium nearby. Some belts have painite, platinum, palladium and another P that I can't remember... rich pickings!

Odd CZ. No points to capture on the radar, and when I did get into one, there was no countdown. The scores for the two teams were missing too so there was no way of telling who was winning :(
EDIT OK, it's all CZ's in this system. Time to move on.

EDIT 2

Can someone have a look at this screenshot and use the zoom in as far as possible please? I'm just wondering if it appears as a really big image to you.

EDIT 3

I created a separate post over here for this but wondered it anyone here has noticed it:

I've tried a few different ones now and the following seems to be awry (it was all fine earlier today)
  • The remaining points for each team is missing
  • There is no countdown when capturing a position
  • When the opposition is down to enemies only, those enemies don't appear in the count where the points should be
  • Dying results in a redeploy back to your ship location instead of going back in zone
  • The zone can be won and bonds earned but exiting the area needs a call to Apex
Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this?

Pretty big, the larger of the landing structures fills three quarters or so of my screen when zoomed.

What's the bug killer?
Here's an old forum post about it. It doesn't have Tellurium as far as I know. The Crashed Anaconda used to. Maybe still does.

I just finished a short session. I went for some material collecting on a planet in a nearby system. Had done some research where I might find some Tellurium beforehand.
The planet as such was quite unassuming, just a metal rich world with no geological or biological features. I picked a landing spot, hopped into my SRV and drove off towards the horizon, sending my ship back into orbit. About one and a half hour later, and I am 9 units of Tellurium (and quite a few other materials) richer. I think that was quite successful.

A crashed Anaconda with the wreck of an SRV nearby, like Jameson’s wrecked Cobra they are a source of various materials and a bit of story.

You also get visits from a couple of Thargoid Interceptors.
Thanks.
I didn't know the crashed Anaconda and SRV was called the bug killer. I use this site for an initial stock of raw mats before I can get to crystal shards. I have 2 accounts so done this twice.

Considering how hard it is to find Telerium in the wild outside of the crystal shards sites, you did well. There is a canister with 3 units of Telerium plus canister of some other materials at the crashed Anaconda (aka bug killer) worth picking up. You don't have to do the relog trick to refresh them and the nearby SRV is worth a look.

Thanks.

If you scan the logs you find out that Bug Killer is what the enthusiastic Commander calls himself or his Anaconda before he meets the Thargoids and ends up where you find him.

There are several other crashed or abandoned Anacondas around all with a few things to find and logs to read. The Cannon people have a list of locations.

And I didn't have to relog to get the DWEs, either. At least not in the way that is suggested by those always-in-a-hurry-have-to-be-effective-and-optimized people... Just the normal way, between sessions. I got some as a mission reward, others by scanning other ships in supercruise and actually even some by scanning the wakes around my home base...
This is a mystery to me, as I have found 1 Data Mined Wake Exception ever (using a wake scanner) in the game and I do all the things you describe. I have to trade other encoded materials to get DWEs. In my faction support game play I take missions for influence, and planetary scans are good ones for this. They give you grade 4 and 5 encoded materials when you do the planet surface station datalink scan. So this is my steady supply of encoded materials, and since I rarely engineer new ships now, its enough to keep me going.

Back after 25 weeks away. Whats new besides the Salvation cutscene at game boot up.
The console transfer portal is now live and according to reports working pretty well.

There is something called Horizons 4.0 available to none Odyssey owners which is basically Horizons using Odyssey graphics and code. There is lots of angst and confusion about this in various bits of the forums.

There is a weekly summary of Galnet over in the News forums that has been described by sum as the best thing on the forums, some of the summarising is possibly more humorous than the full article.

The trick is getting your very first units of Telerium to get your first Engineered FSD V1 when your 33ly Asp X takes an age to get to the crystal shards and I've heard you need high 30s jump range to get there at all.
A Fleet Carrier ride out there is appealing and is done quite frequently via the Fleet Carrier Owners Club. None scheduled right now.
My AspX had a range of about 34 or so when I went for the first time. It was 53 jumps or so if I recall correctly. Now in my Phantom it's 21 jumps and that's it.
