Which in-game species have you seen IRL?

Treating the Orangutan and Giraffe as general, as I've seen the Sumatran Orangutan and Rothschild's Giraffe (might change in a revision with the next dlc). Also unsure which leopard subspecies I've seen, so I'm just generalising (it was at Singapore Zoo, if anyone knows, please tell me). Subspecies are being generalised at the species level unless there's numerous of them (ala, the wolf).

A seemingly easy task, but once I started it proved difficult.

For the bottom three--Sumatran rather than Bornean orangutans, a non-Formosan Asiatic black bear, and what was most likely a southern lion rather than a West African lion.
In my case, the same for Orangutan and Lion. Grizzly Bear was from Europe, and Aldabra Giant Tortoise, Siberian Tiger and Bonobo have their counterparts (even from the game). I have not included here the Malayan Tapir, Siamang (I saw other Gibbon) and Giant Otter (because they differ in appearance). I think you understand.
I also did not include exhibit animals as I dont really remember all of them.
Me too. I would only remember 6/7 species, so I figured I would let them go.

Now that I know how to do a proper tier list, I have redone it - in the process I remembered one species I had listed as only 'seen in zoos' that I have also seen in the wild - the green iguana.

I went very literal on my list, so although I have seen mixed-subspecies tigers listed as 'Bengal', Southern lions, Eurasian brown bears, domestic water buffalo, Asiatic black bears (not listed to subspecies), Panamanian white-faced capuchins and great crested newts, I have not included them on my seen list.

Of the species I haven't seen, I think either the dingo or arctic fox would be the easiest for me to see - there are zoos within a couple of hours' drive of my house that keep them.

I hope to see every animal in the planet (or a least in planet zoo) I didn't include any exhibits animal cause I don't I remember lol but yea that's right now my tier list and soon I'm think we have to update it with a new dlc!

What a fun little game. Here's my list:

Note: the West African lion is the general African lion, the Ussuri dhole the general dhole, the Formosan black bear the general Asian black bear for me.

And yes, I'm German but I have never seen a badger in my life :(

Edit: the Goliath beetle is actually in the wrong place, it's supposed to be in the "seen in zoos" category

Didn't bother with the "similar thing I've seen" because I can't be bothered thinking of where to draw the line (like is a blue poison dart frog similar to a Lehmann's?). Also, I've seen water buffalo, just not wild water buffalo, so I counted it.

Yes, I am an avid zoo enthusiast. I've been to zoos and aquariums all over America and the one in Toronto, so I've had the opportunity to see a LOT of animals.

Dang, I wish I could do that, but we don't usually go to zoos in other cities/states/countries...

Only zoos outside of Houston I've been to are:

  • Moody Gardens - Galveston, TX (not a zoo-zoo, but they have an animal collection)
  • Irapuato Zoo - Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico
  • León Zoo - León, Guanajuato, Mexico
  • Crocodile Encounters (a croc sanctuary outside of Houston. Don't remember where. The Houston Zoo's resident leucistic alligator, Blanco, now lives here)
  • Córdoba Zoo - Córdoba, Argentina

true bengal tigers are only found within india and like one or two exceptions
same with wild water buffalo within their native range
most american zoos have zoomix or southern
same more or less for formosan black bear and himalayan brown bear lol
Have you seen an actual pure reticulate giraffe? Just curious since your list is the only one that’s getting down to that level of subspecies purity with the bengals. The vast, vast majority of “reticulated” giraffes in US zoos are actually generic hybrids resulting from decades-old misunderstanding of subspecies and the resultant garbled studbook.

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, just genuinely interested here. I think there’s so few true reticulated giraffes in the country that seeing one would be neat.

My turn yeah!!! Hahahaha, well so you can see I've almost seen a jaguar in the wild, but the place it's a nature reserve, so it's not complete the wild, and I live on the tropical Mexico, the reason of why I've seen some exhibit animals

Another subspecies animals
1.- greater flamingo, the Guadalajara zoo that I've visited two times it has the specie but i couldn't see one unfortunately, and is the only zoo In mexico with greater flamingo, but always i watch the American flamingo where I live in the wild and of course in zoos
2.- Timber wolf/// Mexican Wolf, in fact Mexican Wolf are the only subspecies of wolf that I've seen
3.- White face Capuchin Monkey/// I don't know how is the name of the animal in English but in Spanish is "Mono capuchino de cabeza dura"
4.- West African lion// Generic lion
5.- Nile lechwe/// Cobus lechwe
6.- Black Wildebeest/// Blue Wildebeest
7.- Wild water buffalo// Domestic water Buffalo
8.- Amur leopard// African leopard
