Which in-game species have you seen IRL?

Ooh where
I’ll be visiting a handful of zoos along the mid-Atlantic the first full week of July. Sifaka with back to back opportunities at Philadelphia Zoo and Maryland Zoo, markhor at Metro Richmond Zoo.

Wolverine should be my last 2025 hopeful after that, at least within the US. If I’m granted enough time to visit a zoo during this upcoming Japan business trip (not unlikely, I’d wager), then quokka becomes a possibility for this year too.

Updates:
  • Moved African Savannah Elephant To Seen In Captivity Due To Remembering I've Seen Them At Knowsley Safari Park A While Ago But Couldn't Remember At The Time Of The OG List.
  • Moved Bornean Orangutan To Seen In Captivity Due To Me Thinking The Orangutans At Blackpool Zoo Were Sumatran Orangutans (For Some Reason) At The Time Of The OG List, But Found Out They Were Bornean Orangutans.
  • Added The Asia Animal Pack Animals And New Butterfly To The List.

I'm surprised you've been to those two zoos but not Chester which is close, that would knock off a lot of the species for you.

Damn so few animals left in last category, that list yearns for completion
Well some of them are impossible. The beetles and saiga. The rest are going to be really hard to get, got any zoo that could fill a good chunk of those? Also I'm mad about the elephant because where tf am I supposed to find a bornean elephant.

Not the biggest zoo goer here unfortunately, so I'm not that familiar. I know few zoos with Badgers, Wolverines and Tanukis but they're all Balkan/Central Europe.

There was zoo in Italy that held PD Deers, that's where I saw them, but they're not keeping them anymore.

Other than my personal experience I know Chester in England has Sifakas and Pairi Daiza in Belgium should have Borneo Elephants.

Other than that, yeah, those are pretty exotic leftovers, tough to complete in few visits.

I looked into Portland Zoo since it’s the only place in the US that has them, and the only other thing that they’d offer you would be the beaver. There’s probably plenty of US zoos you could visit that would knock a nice dent into your remaining list.

I got impatient since I saw the new icons were out and went ahead and updated mine. I decided to finally add some exhibits, since I track reptiles and amphibians anyway, aside from snakes (and I was also just tired of not being able to flex the three-toed sloth sighting). Couldn't possibly tell you whether or not I've seen most of the arthropods or not. As always, I'm looking strictly at the species level. All of the "maybe" tiers indicate that I have more or less concrete plans to visit a facility that holds this species within the given timeframe (with Japan happening, presumably, once this year and one next, with the trip next year being the one that will knock out most of those). The Danube crested newt and Lesser Antillean iguana are particularly annoying to see here, because yes, they're kept at a miniscule number of facilities in the US each, but I can all but guarantee you I will never go there.
