🐾 Planet Zoo - Update 1.11 coming 18 Oct 🐾

...
Also being able to select and delete objects I have placed inside of exhibits without having to delete the whole box would be very useful.

...
You can already kinda do that via multiselect and then deselecting the exhibit itself again by pressing ctrl+click. Then you just have the scenery stuff left in the selection and can move/delete that.

This does however remind me of the other thing this game severely lacks especially considering the building aspect of it: a proper demolish tool. Take the JWE2, that one's pretty much perfect with its option to select a whol lot of different types of things it deletes when moved over the park. Wanna get rid of all? Select everything. Just want to remove a few trees? Only select those and the brush will touch nothing else etc. It's so useful and yet PZ still doesn't have one at all and makes you delete bins and benches manually one by one...

Captive dart poison frogs are not dangerous. They are not poisonous because their captive diet lacks the toxic insects they eat in the wild.
They still should never be handled, because of the salt and chemicals they absorb through their skin from human hands, which is an even bigger problem for very small amphibians like poison dart frogs.

Anyway, nice update and glad to see some love to the exhibit system. The ramp tool will also be very convenient.

What usually works for me is if I select the box and move it away a little via the advanced move tool, I can just select the objects I want to select, and then undoing the last action (ctrl+y) usually returns the box to where it was supposed to be, with the to-be-deleted objects still selected. But yeah, sometimes selecting this stuff around an exhibit box can be quite finicky!

I know it can be done, it just isn't very handy at the moment.

I suspect a huge amount of work has gone into this update and clearly there are some features that many people use so it’s a good update from that perspective. It’s already a great game that I’ve spent hundreds of hours on so it feels a bit greedy to want more…..

but personally though - I rarely use exhibits as they just feel ā€˜architectural’ rather than ā€˜animal’ And Educators feel more of an enhancement to the simulation aspect that is looking after the guests rather than focusing on the animals. i already find guests behaviour a bit annoying tbh - being thirsty or hungry unless there is a food and drink option on every corner….

I’d definitely like the next update to be more focused on animal behaviours (escaping animals is a nice novelty but I try not to let it happen in my zoos). It’s seeing the animals interact with the exhibit, pieces, each other etc that sets this aside from other sim games for me so hopefully we’ll see some more of that focus in the next update.

Love the educator update, that's super cool. The exhibit update in general won't affect me much though, I put all my exhibit animals on contraceptives anyway since in Sandbox there's no real benefit to breeding them, and it sounds like the 2D background changes are pretty much just billboards inside the exhibit.

Excited about the new map skirts, but I literally just got into the groove of my new zoo so I won't be able to use them yet. 😭

I love everything but one thing. I wish we would be able to change the background on old saves. Because I'm someone who has opendend only one zoo in all this time. I love to see the automisation for the exhibits... maybe a way I can pay my bills in franchise ^^

  1. Exhibit update: nice!
  2. Piebald variation: Very nice!
  3. Escapes upgrade: Good
  4. New Biome skirts:

On paper it's a very good update, looking forward to the special stream and for the full patch notes, thanks Frontier! 🄰

Really looking forward to this new update. The slopes I expect will be helpful with paths and the new education talk will be very welcome in my reptile parks.
Just one thing:

You guys realise that the other half of the planet is going into Summer, right?
Hi Mealie! Frontier is based in the UK.
