Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

They've been doing that for quite a while. It's nerve racking when it happens to you for the first time, isn't it?

Not my first time. Had earlier been pulled out by three space cabbages (first time of that) but the record didn't work so I was jumping back and forth hoping it would occur again but just this normal type thereafter. Posted the video to check yootube handling of the file type, looks to be an issue in getting it to play for me so will have to go back to using OBS I suppose.

I can see the bubble nebula from here in NGC 281 - it's sizable - that's about 1900 LY away!

CHOO CHOO! Lifting off from BD+55 191 AB 1, an absurdly hot landable rock of supposedly 4,499K-8,789K.. but somehow not molten. It's hot enough to melt tungsten in the shade, and ya better put a lid on it or it'll boil it off when the sun comes up. So no wonder its inflammable purple anenomes glow in the dark -- they must be the secret to this little nebula NGC 281's eeriest hues

After a few exploration runs and mining runs, I now have enough to buy and outfit my fleet carrier. Now, I can just set out to do some relaxing exploring and site seeing for a while and take whatever I get as gravy.

Big thanks to @CMDRQuainMarln for lifting us all out here and finding the best Monazite spot I've ever seen.
Awesome. Glad to hear you have got the credits for a carrier. 804t of Monazite on board and 622t of platinum.
I will get around to a bit of Monazite core mining myself, but Ive enjoyed chilling out and doing Exobiology sampling so far.

Enjoying my Fleet Carrier and small fleet. I made some changes, sold my Python and my Anaconda, now I got a Beluga Liner which I use to do strictly passenger missions from CEOS, a role filled by the Anaconda previously.
I went to Colonia with the Carrier but ran into trouble when I wanted to make the return trip, Tritium is so expensive there, I had to sell two ships to buy enough of it and frankly, there is so little to do there I wonder why I went again in the first place...
So back to Wolf 363 where I do a lot of bounty hunting, but also element farming with the Carrier which I use it as a taxi and back.
If you want grade 4 material here are some good spot: System HIP 36601 and HR 3230.
HIP 36601 - C 1 a - Polonium.
HIP 36601 - C 1 d - Ruthenium.
HIP 36601 - C 3 b - Tellurium.
HIP 36601 - C 5 a - Technetium.

HR 3230 -3AA - Selenium.

I use tons of them to feed my Corvette weapons but also enginer new ships, been trying a few of them but I'll stick with what I have now for a while, although I might get another one for mining Trituim, perhaps a Type-7 Transporter which I like despite the fact that it can't use small and medium pads, the only two ships I never sold or traded for another are my Krait Phantom and Corvette, two awesome ships if you ask me.

I reached Tripe Elite but I don't play PvP, so some might think it's too easy, understand, I'm gonna be 64 in 7 days, a bit too slow for PvP now...

Congratulations on the Triple Elite youngster.

I am yet to buy a Fleet Carrier despite having enough credits for the purchase, I think I want to have enough to ensure I don’t have to sell any of my fleet but am currently not interested in the fast ways to get the credits I need.

Do you use your Phantom for exploration?
Like most, I do.
I like Colonia for a 1 month visit every 7 or 8 months. It's a base to explore different areas, I keep my only Orca there. Mining is pretty good and there are plen myty of pirate massacre missions on offer in Tir.I'm due another visit soon.

For very long distances I carry the Krait with my Carrier, like going to Colonia and back. At each stop, I honk 4/5 systems for data collection.

I'm done with trips of 100 jumps +, I find it monotonous and boring plus I tend to pass out, so anything longer than 20 jumps, I'll use the Carrier, on the other hand, I use the Krait for medium range travel such as Wolf 363 > CEOS, or farming Encoded and Manufactured materials as well.

Right now I'm buying parts for my new Type - 7, I fit them on the Krait, then store them and recall them from the carrier, I can do this as well for weaponry of ships which have too short a range, it's easier for enginering too.

My Krait fit is derivated from that of the Fuel Rats, with a small compromise with Thruster to make sure I have enough head room for landing on high gravity planets, range is a bit shorter but I have more power on tap... Ranges are 59.86/59.79/61.25 LY. (Station datas Min/Current/Max).

Krait Phantom Helene Boucher.

I made the money for mine doing passenger missions from CEOS.

It took me some time because I was starting from low finances but I don't regret it, right now, I hesitate to get Odyssey to take advantage of the interior, I'm not sure if the game is stable enough yet.

For traveling with the Carrier I use Fleet Carrier Router, it works very well, you know from the start the amount of fuel you're gonna use, the only issue with Carriers is their relative short range, 500 LY can look much but going from Wolf 363 to Colonia with a used capacity of 2500 takes 45 jumps and 5814 tons of Tritum.

That's what my problem was last time I was there, the cost of fuel is way too high and I'm not really prepared to mine 5814 tons, at the end of the day, long range travel with a Carrier can be costly if you cannot find a station selling the fuel at a normal market rate.

Since you need about <> 15 mn between jumps after a while you also can find the trip rather slow going, but I'd say, it is a fantastic platform if you're not willing to go through 109 jumps which is what my Krait Phantom would take more or less, you won't crash in a remote planet or stocked because your ship is damaged.

A carrier will cost you money to run, but it will take you to places a ship geared up for mining wouldn't really reach, you'll have access to repair, maintainance, restock of limpets, change of part to reconfigure your ship etc. So all in all it's a very valuable asset.

\o/ on triple Elite, grats! Using the new decal now?

With you on the tritium. I'm out Colonia way too and, while I don't plan any return to the bubble anytime soon, I do need to stock up in case Sag A* calls.

I refuse to buy from FC owners as the price is taking the Michael so it's a case of watching for anything substantial coming through on stations or... mining it. Which is, frankly, annoying.

Thanks!

I see we have the same issue, I wouldn't mind going to Colonia more often if it wasn't for the Tritium cost, after all everyone seems to enjoy exploration there, I might have missed a few thing.

Right now I'm looking for Distribution Centres in Famine state Systems on my way back From Khun, I finish engineering my Type-7, I'll use it for mining Tritium but I don't see myself filling up my Carrier this way, I only keep this minig capability just in case...

The Type-7 is good for mining but the more you engineer the FSD, the more it overheat, so I had to compromise jump range and go for Thermal Spread special effect, it sill runs a bit hot but at least I can engage FSD and boost without blowing the boiler up.

I'm thinking about exploring different sectors but only half range, so I can make it back, I hope developers will correct this lack of a proper Tritium market in Colonia...

I forgot, to gain some weight/jump range I reduced my Beluga Liner fuel tank capacity, downgraded to 5C class. I'll do the same with the Type 7, from stock they have fuel capacity which are only usefull on very long range without Fuel Scoop, which is not the way I use them.

If only they may asteroids yield more tritium... given how much a carrier needs. And compare yields with how much platinum can be mined in the same time.

We should have engineering options for Fleet Carrier like it is the case for ships, increased range and reduced Tritium consumption would be greatly apreciated, and you're right, asteroids yeld could be better, I think developers haven't considered those questions yet.
