Planet Zoo: Twilight Pack arriving 18 Oct 🦇

The bats look absolutely incredible. They are on loops, of course, but it's honestly hard to notice at a glance when there's so many of them active at once and more importantly, there's multiple different behaviors for them. I've already seen footage of certain loops involving perching briefly before flying again, so they do seem very robust even compared to our previously most "mobile" exhibit species. Seems like the layout of the exhibit is largely static, though. Disappointing but unsurprising.

Here's all the animals that can and cannot be held by Educators.

I also find it weird that many creators are showing the stuff already today.

Just watched Cesar's videos: So, apparently the fruit bats have a looped animation but with some variation (flying, hanging down and eating), not a bad solution. I rather have good looped animations than wonky "normal" animations with fruit bats constantly being on the ground or so.
The walkthrough exhibit's setup is as (less) customizable as in the existing exhibits, so you can add ropes, food stations, sleeping stations etc. You can also choose if it's an aviary, glasshouse or closed exhibit. You can also choose that e.g. the backwalls are closed while the other walls are glass or mesh. The exhibit apprently comes with some foliage, but right now I'm not sure if we are also able to remove the foliage (which would be good for realistic indoor night bat exhibits which normally are without foliage).

Yeah the embargo was ended early according to CCs

Funny how of all the species, the Gila monster is the only one designated too large. I'm also surprised they didn't prioritize some of the snakes, since they're pretty common ambassador species. Fine by me, though.

Also, super happy they actually included the erythristic skunk! That's what they have at a nearby zoo, so I was hoping it'd make it in. Here's a pic of the cute fella:

No Dev Journal yet but already Content Overview videos? Has this situation ever happened in previous updates? Aren't we getting Dev Journal today?

Yeah, it's a bit weird. I understand showing the content one hour before release, but almost a whole day in advance...I don't know how I feel about that. Fingers crossed we still get a dev journal, those are always interesting to read. :giggle:

Who else has thrown away their plans for the evening and is just watching the videos?

I'm glad they come early since before I always preferred playing by myself than watching the videos
Same, I am currently overwhelmed by videos, but at least it will keep me occupied till tomorrow, hah. So far everything look even better than I thought, animals look incredible, the bats are amazing.

My favourite is definitely the wombat - depending on the quality of its animations, it might just become my favourite animal in the whole game!
After watching through videos for the past hour...

Yep, they're absolutely my favourite animal in PZ now. The model looks FANTASTIC and the animations are absolutely STELLAR (from their ambling walk and butt rubs on scratching posts to their backwards-facing pouch). Cannot stress enough how happy I am with them!

The bats, despite being looped, are pretty phenomenal too, but that goes without saying. Very happy with how customisable the walkthrough exhibits are.

I have to correct myself watching the Elm Hill City Zoo episode by Cesar Creates regarding the foliage in the walkthrough exhibit:
The walkthrough exhibit comes without any plants! So you just have the empty box with the pathway in the middle and that's it. You can build the rest yourself and design it as you want. :) Really happy about this! Of course it's just one size and you only have certain enrichment/setup items but the rest can be designed in you want.

Red foxes can use the burrow! Their coat patterns are so perfect, too. Frontier really hit it out of the park with them. I know they're probably the least popular inclusion as far as this forum is concerned but I've been nothing but ecstatic ever since I heard the word "sly" in the campfire stream.

Yet somehow, despite all that, the bats may still just be the actual star of this pack. I mean, wow.

Also I wish the raccoons were a bit fatter/fluffier but I wasn't expecting it or anything. The melanistic raccoon is incredible.

The skunks look way better in motion than the somewhat awkward picture yesterday led me to believe. Good stuff.

I think overall, I'd rank my excitement levels as:
  1. Fox
  2. Bat
  3. Raccoon
  4. Skunk
  5. Wombat
