Winter DLC Speculation

There are so few of them that all the wild kakapo have names. If they're ever kept in captivity, which is extremely unlikely, they will never be exported outside of New Zealand either. They are not tourist attractions; you won't get to see them in real life unless you have good reason.
That's why I always get a little irritated when people want sumatran rhinos. And imagine them breeding like crazy in PZ. Including those animals would feel to me like making fun of their actual situation IRL.
And with the Kakapo especially, I can't see why a Kea shouldn't be a better representation anyway. But then again, both are birds, so what do I know.

I feel like there's a bit of a difference here because Sumatran rhinos have been kept in captivity before. Also I feel like the kea is a better representative in general due to its distinctive beak and intelligence. Personally, I would love having a bird that takes apart cars in Planet Zoo. But we can agree to disagree.

I agree put the black rhino in instead. Much better suited to captivity and more of a population to work with. You’ll more then likely never see Sumatran rhino in captivity again. That’s why I never fully understand the flesh out the map way of thinking in the community as some animals will never be popular irl zoos.

Do we disagree though? I do want Keas and a quick google search proofs they destroy cars :p If that's what is important.

Well, there are several things wrong here.

You say the exhibit sounds perfect for the kakapo, but they don't exist in captivity so there's no such thing as 'perfect' for them. It's been determined after several years of research that kakapo should not be held in zoo collections; captive breeding is a finnicky business and there are simply too few kakapo to take the risk.

I can appreciate that you've seen a couple of memes about this bird but I'd encourage everyone to do a little bit of research into them. There are so few of them that all the wild kakapo have names. If they're ever kept in captivity, which is extremely unlikely, they will never be exported outside of New Zealand either. And before anyone says it, yes, the game would be a half-decent medium through which to educate people on this bird, but frankly if it came at the expense of far more iconic NZ animals that are actually kept in captivity (internationally, too - namely the kiwi, the tuatara, and the kea) I'd throw you all off a bridge.
Well, i understand and respect your opinion, kakapo is a very endangered birb and we need to protect them, but have them in the game would be so amazing, just imagine a New Zeland zoo entirely for them. That birds are incredible, i think is the only non-flying parrot. Is like the dodo of our time, for that i love them, and be able to see a representation of them in the game knowing how amazing frontier does it´s animals it would be an incredible addition, a more close contact of them in a game without needing to be warmful to their environment. And of course, kiwi´s and keas are incredible, maybye i prefer the kea more, "the mountain parrot". But well, everyone have opinions here, and i understand yours here, so thanks to give it and let´s hope for have more kakapos in the wild, the researchers that investigate and care them are amiazing people! :D

Sumatran rhinos are really incredible, and see them in the game wouldn´t be a problem, it will maybye educate people for why we need to protect and take care of the endangered animals like black rhinos, amur leopards and vaquitas. And the same with the kakapo. That bird is unical, as NZFanatic said, the wild kakapos have an individual game, that´s why we have to protect them and maybye in Planet zoo they would have a great representation, having a very much respect to the animal

Maybye more endangered animals like kakapos, sumatran rhinos, saigas and père david´s deer would be perfect to the game. Why? Well, if they come to the game would not be a problem, like a 0% problem, at contrary, it would be amazing to see them, even if they do not live in zoos. They would not be like a joke, just a reminder that we need to protect and care them for not seen them extinct in a few years, that´s why i would love to see kakapos and sumatran rhinos. They would be very respected by frontier and some people, and frontier would nail thei realism to them. Animals that are only in some parts of the world and very special to everyone would be great additions to the game.

A friend has reported to me that Content13 has mentions in the files. Take this with a grain of salt, but if you believe it - then you believe we may have a Spring DLC confirmed.
That are very great news!
I hope so much to see more Oceanian representations, specially from Tasmania and New Zeland. Animals like the kiwi, tasmanian devils, and keas (with the new terrarium) sounds very good for me! Maybye not kakapos, because @NZFanatic said some things that made me think of it would be a good idea to have them in a zoo.
But as always, a possible content 13 sounds an idilical notice!!

I would like for the 1.12 update (regardless of the DLC theme...) at least 4-5 new dripstones (very small, long narrow, very big, sinter terraces, etc) to be able to build bigger caves, 3-4 new redwood models (more realistic in terms of zoos/parks...not such gigantic ones we got with the last update), especially the giant redwood (sequoia gigantea) as we got the sequoia sempervirens with the 1.11 update. And maybe some bigger spruce trees with longer trunks 🙈🙈. And we would in general need a completely new set of limestone rocks (to build bigger karst formations).

Sorry to nitpick but we got giant redwoods - huge red trees with high up branches. It's the coastal redwood - sempervirens - which is my more desired pick for creating more realistic forests

The sequoia gigantea is the more common one at least in Europe (I have only seen maybe 2-3 coastal redwoods but way more than 20 mountain redwoods.....here in Europe). The big ones we got now are perfect to recreate national parks in the US, but not very realistic to be in a european themed zoo....(because most of them are maybe 50-100 years old, the big ones in the game are at least 4-500 years old).

Alright I'm confused  The European giant redwood seems vastly different compared to the giant redwood found in California despite being the exact same tree. In game we have the giant redwood modelled after the specimens found in Yosemite national park and likely other redwood groves found throughout the Sierra mountains. I know this tree also as the Sierra redwood which makes sense.

The coastal redwood , typically found throughout western California is a tall slim tree which is the tallest tree in the world. These are a much darker bark with much more branches typical to a more forest setting. Now the troubling thing is the species found in Europe is the giant redwood but has the features of the coastal redwood minus the slim profile
