So cute

By that reasoning NMS lost 96% of its playerbase. The fact there is a peak during launch followed by a decline happened literally every single patch for both ED and NMS.

That EDO has issues is true, but the steam charts are a poor argument and anyone with any basic understanding of how to read charts would figure that out...
NMS is not Elite, not even close to it. Not really compareble.
75% in 2 month after Biggest DLC ever in this game - is not normal by any standards. For all we know, the remaining players on Steam we are seeing now could be the majority playing Horizon, and the real numbers for Odyssey could look much much worse then 75%.

As for Steam charts, there is no need for hypocrisy. They were good enough for you to bring them up multiply times to make your point, so deal with it.

But what if we all suddenly told you that RAXXLA HAS ALLEGEDLY BEEN SIGHTED AND IS PROBABLY ATTACKING!!!
Get into your ships, lets go! Wohoo!

I've decomissioned my carrier and sold most of my ships. Been playing since 2014 and had grown tired of failed promises and consistent mediocre feature implementations. I don't even know where this game is headed anymore as there is no clear roadmap on what to expect.

Fixing bugs and performance will not save this game if all there is are grinding for credits and mats.

What the game needs right now are meaningful EVA gameplay / encounters using ship interiors and VR support.

At any rate, It's been a long and patient journey for me... but I guess it ends here - for now.

07 commanders, signing off.
o7 cmdr, and thanks for decommissioning your carrier so it doesn't clog up systems.
Always sad to see an oldie go but enjoy whatever you play next and maybe see you later.

They give Fdev a chance to do something about it to bring them back. Else that " a while " could take years or until SC release...
Oh, when might that release happen?
The last I saw there was a 'roadmap' going around 15 months into the future but with no mention it was the final one. (I do follow it, but unless it releases very soon I'll be too old to want to start playing!)

The ironic part of these forlorn "I'm going" cries for attention is the "for now" part...

"A while" is more likely to be a very short time, perhaps long enough to try the "competition" and return back to the game... The permanent alpha is one that does require a pretty high power PC to play, the other "disneyesque" playground is far less demanding and has quintillions of stars (even if they are all pretty much the same bar colour) and some amazing planetary geography, flora & fauna...

...but, they ain't got a patch on what ED offers, the OP will be back, sooner rather than later, I'd wager :ROFLMAO:

I am not saying there is anything wrong with Steam Charts, I am saying you are drawing poor conclusions from them.

Anyway, not going back and forth over it, you Believe what you want to. I am paid enough to analyse data to not extensively provide you with freebies. :)

Dude, that is not a conclusion you can draw from that graph, even if it were the only metric available, and the only measurement of the playerbase. You can't say the game has lost 75% from a spike and claim that reflects the whole of the situation - you can say 75% from a peak, but the rest of the graph tells a totally different story!

Jeez people make up such crap!

Edit - Ian has the same conclusion!

From years and in to eternity ( SC) ... also their Game Engine will get to old at this rate... not sure what will be there plans for that.
Cmdr Will and Katie Tuber, plays on 1060 card - so it's not really that high power PC needed at all.

Also returning back to the game after trying the competition - i would start to get worried now, if i was in Fdev shoes ( assuming they even care). What Cmdr Katie showed in her videos - was years ahead of where i thought SC was.

as for "For now ", " a while " - that how it is with Elite - the development is very very slow so could take years before something fun and interesting comes to ED again.

But will ED pull the milky money udders a bit more? The numbers are not growing which after a major update is a bit of a problem.

And that's something the STEAM charts do tell. Players ( new and old ) popped in for a bit and then bailed. New DLC should have produced more of a sustained player bump, at least I would think.

Granted, we don't know total sales numbers, including direct purchases. Maybe the game still made a tidy profit. But there is certainly damage to the games rep, and that will be telling on the next major DLC/Patch. Blizzard burned it's reputation with me on D III. CD Project Red.. I still haven't bought CP 2077, and I was REALLY waiting to play that one. So those negative reviews ( youtube and STEAM ) will be pretty hard to scrape off their boot.

DOOM ? No.. But there darn well better be concern at the top levels. Unless they're too busy cashing bonus checks.

Since the launch of Odyssey 2 month ago, more than 75% of Steam Elite playerbase has left the game.

It's one things if numbers are down during dry months with no patches or big updates. But after 2 month of a first paid DLC in 5 years - stop deluding your self, it's not Summer, its not the Pandemic - Odyssey is just that terrible right now.
Obviously you don't understand Steamcharts. Would you like to know more?

I'm also thinking about quitting this game in a few months time after I have completed my current trip to Beagle Point (my last mission in this game). How do commanders transfer credits the easy way? Thinking about giving away 10 billion credits before I sign off.

It's just so sad looking at the graphs. For 7 Month straight Elite experience a "boom" in players. Over 10k. - Never in the history of Elite on Steam, have we seen so much interest in the game - and of course the suits in company saw it all, eager players to play Odyssey, and they cashed in on it, by releasing to early. They must be really pleased with them selves...
Now the numbers are back to where they were in 2016 - same old 4-6k. I suspect it will bounce back to 6-8k in the next few month, showing some gains from 7 months of stability as the players will make their return.

I will also contribute, by linking to Steam and re-installing the game on Steam to get on the charts. Regardless of how i feel about the current state of further development of Odyssey, it is still better than anything else i saw so far, but SC is coming really really close now. Scary that they will soon become a better game than Elite. But it is inevitable with the current state at Frontier...
