1.1 Beta - You're not missing anything

The dynamic lights for customized HUD colors instead of the orange reflection is a good touch as well.

And they've failed! Apparently the criticism is becoming true, not because of the big changes, but the features about the changes don't seem to make sense, as your point is a good example of this. I agree.

Yes, we will see the station during construction. Have you not seen the picture released of the partially built Orbis Starport?

Thats great and all, but let me guess, it will function and look and act exactly like 100's of other orbis stations already in game when complete, right?

Does "testing" not register with you ?

We're not in the beta to have fun (necessarily), we're here to test and give feedback on the new features...

Have anyone of you seen the massive list of bug fixes and changes in the release notes?
There were many changes and fixes - and sometimes the hardest ones to fix are those that have little visible impact. They have been very busy in deed - making many many changes, in addition to working on the coming wings update.

"Underwhelming"? Yeah, right.

You mean the fixes that were supposed to be ironed out in beta and gamma?

Of all things, food? And 20,000 for best contributor? :D Maybe if the good was actually worth hauling and you tagged 3 zeroes at the end of 20k, pilots with ships that could actually make a big difference could be bothered.

Making just one shipment to take advantage of the 5% drop in metals would be more beneficial - 5% off gold at 8.8k brings it to 8.3k and gives you an extra 500Cr/t, but since that's trivial to work out, I wouldn't imagine that the supply would last beyond a handful of hours being hammered by multiple freighters.

Then you have massively unrealistic expectations.

It's far quicker to think up features than to actually code and test them, and what's being added in 1.1 is quite frankly a huge amount of work for just a month or so.

you're equating time lapse since launch with time lapse since the last 'big' patch, are they the same thing? I dont actually know but from what I hear from beta players they say that there was very little change in the latter stages of the beta process, dont know if it's true or not. Besides there is nothing to say that they have only been working on this stuff for a month, community goals could of been in development for 6 months or more, how do you know?

and as testified by several here people "testing" arent engaging with the new "features" as they are really the system dressed up a little different with the same Zero Depth as before leaving people thinking "why bother".

I did enough testing of the base game during Alpha, beta, gamma and now release as well?? On Base Features that havent changed beyond a progress bar addition? cmon now :)

Not missing anything apart from the opportunity to fly ships it would take an age to afford in release ...
Got me an Orca last night, and it's a beaut. Just wanted to have a go, but it's entirely correct that it should take forever to afford in the main game IMO.

I have to admit I find the attitude to the 1.1 Beta to be pretty depressing.
While I've not been able to participate as yet (my internet is rubbish), even if the changes are absolutely tiny is it not a good thing that FD are running a Beta to make sure things work? Surely that is vastly better than the opposite..
Each update has been pretty small and incremental and in updating it with a live player base they need to be careful, it is easy to trip up and this has happened in the past.
So really, cut them some slack.
We can have a huge argument about whether more should have been there at release or how people feel things should be balanced differently or what should be expanded upon but, now that we do have a live game that people are playing, they have to be cautious.
I think it is also worth noting that testing a system works is not the same as saying the way it is presented in the Beta is the way it will finally and exclusively be used. Perhaps it is, but checking the infrastructure works is important and each building block they get in place helps in the long run.

I think they mean to report on the features for the interest of those who haven't tried them. Community goals do sound silly. We're not ants. If a goal is completed, does anything happen?

Landing pad lights are still really flaky, so at least we'll all be able to take comfort in the familiar :)

As far as seeing the new station under construction...what we saw in the news letter was just a picture and nothing more, so don't read too much into it or get too excited about being able to see the actual construction in game, much less actually interact with it.

Would really like to find out how many people actually have what kind of opinion about the game currently and any changes that are planned. Too many folks on here claim that "the majority thinks this" or "the majority thinks that" ... That's why I made a proposal for polls/surveys. There's gotta be a better way to find out than sifting through endless forum threads.

Fantastic! I had forgotten about that one! Takes me back to beta! "It isn't a game it's a beta".

Will add it to the list of Elite-isms used to discourage people along with classics such as; "maybe this isn't the game for you" and "use your imagination".

Thanks for the memories... :)

Thanks OP for the beta update; I'm a beta player but I haven't bothered with 1.1 because the new feature list was underwhelming. Being shepherded about by the DbAdmin is not my idea of gameplay. If grinding is not wanted by many players I'm not sure why FD thinks organised grinding is somehow better.
