You know, it would be nice if ranks gave us some perks other than just serving as barriers to ship purchases and system permits. What if for each rank above the rank requirement for a ship we have we received a slight discount on the ship?

The military ranks is something we want to revisit at a later stage. I'd like to see them become more like a career.

I hope this also means we will see much fewer pirate NPCs in the faction ships. It's strange how many Clippers, Dropships etc. they have.

I hope there will be a black market for faction ships somewhere.

All in all I hope that some time in the future there will be more illegal things going about. Right now we have

1. Piracy

2. Smuggeling

3. Murder

Not exactly, it is one of examples. You can fight without ramming very long on HRP ;) FDL have not enough cellbanks or hrp to cover it. This will happen when you want avoid ramming.
And of course Orca will mass lock FDL, and is faster, so running and low-wake is not a good idea. FAS and Clipper will have same behaviour as orca. The point is in a number of hulll in that ships in silent build vs FDL possibility to have shields or hrp. FDL is just poor after HRP buff and SCB nerf, even with a buff of PP. Of course i urge to make own tests, in beta they are free ;)

But, let's get back to the topic ;)

Question folks, I recall from reading just an hour or so ago, of someone saying they'd better take their Python out now, because it's getting nerfed with the update. Is this true? I literally just bought one... Would hate to see my brand new ship nerfed into mediocritiy before I even get the chance to see whether or not it's good!

Not sure about that,

But i think, also because the FDL gets a nice patch, they want militairy ships to be really miltairy, and multipupose really just that.. Right now, a fully outkitted python is just as good, if not better, as the FDL wich is a purly combat ship.. Its a bit strange.

So i wont be supprised you are not wrong here..

Do you also consider making ranks in rivaling superpowers mutually exclusive, or at least the higher ranks, perhaps? Wouldn't it be much more believable if CMDRs couldn't be "Dukes" in the Empire, empowering them to purchase one of the mightiest ships the Empire has, and at the same time be an Admiral in the Federal navy?

I think it would also make interacting with those superpowers much more interesting from a gameplay perspective. If players had to choose which superpower they want to support - if they want to do so in the first place - this could work similar to how supporting powers in Powerplay works and make the whole superpowers - powers - minor powers gameplay feel more consistent and meaningful.

I have heard a slight rumor of it needing a large pad to land now but I belive that is bogus.

The FDL is going to become a beast though and I am slightly afraid it might make the Python obsolete, atleast for combat in most cases.

im not very experienced in PvP.
what you wrote seems quit interessting.
Im on Xbox, so i'll have to wait for the release of 1.5 but then i will
test a lot^^

Yes - there should be more consequences for choosing sides.

Which grant permits to land at military stations.. which supply better hardware at lower prices.. but require that you "serve" by doing a certain amount of missions/combat bonds/etc in a given time period.. etc

Well, good..

The FDL is good in only one thing, fighting.. Hell, it cant even FSD that good, and fully combat outfitted it only got a 30ly range.. Atleast let it be flawless in one thing, Fighting.

The python is good i everything now, and its specialized in combat if outfitted right.. that for a multipurpose ship, is, impressive..

Dont get me wrong, i love the python aswell..

I am do not know how works aiming with fixed weapons on Xbone pad and version, but, in silent mode with hrp any gimballs or turrers cannot lock on You. If playing on fixed on xbox is not easy and common, with a 'stealth' build you could be hard to aim.

I love the idea of being able to properly join up to do a career type thing, but when they're revisted can we consider different names at the top of the imperial ladder? I think Prince and King are both a little silly as rank names...
