Patch Notes Update 2.1.04 update incoming

you assume moderators of this forum have to show when they edit a post ? just because us plebs do ?

What is this nonsense? Are you suggesting the mods are lying about something totally irrelevant but you, unknown anonymous person from the internet, are only giving out divine truth? Because if yes, I have bad news for you: I'm willing to believe the mods over you.

It's back up. Turns out it was 3 minutes.

Hahaha very quick turnaround!

Just a quick note for Zac and the rest of you at Frontier; you guys are unfairly bombarded with negativity on these forums. I personally believe that you guys are doing a world-class job, and are out-performing your peers in all areas, from development through to community management.

I would believe that the vast majority of the community understand that bugs and gameplay-based disputes will always creep up, and simply take some time to address.

I'm hoping that the Frontier team isn't disheartened by the vocal minority who can't seem to be pleased no matter what. You should be proud of the work you do, and rest in comfort that the majority of us really appreciate it!

Regards,
CMDR Nomis

I would like to know how this got broken in the first place. I don't recall seeing any adjustments being made to auto-docking in the last major update. So, what happened?

I saw someone say they heard that one of your devs accidentally shifted the whole galaxy to the right 10 meters. Is that true?

No, it's not. If that were the case then outposts and planetary stations would have exhibited the same odd behaviour. I think I read a post from FD somewhere that it was something to do with the rotational calculations of the orbital station.

The combat expansion bug was first reported a month ago. It was reported again on the 22nd, and again on the 28th. Sandro was also personally informed about this bug when he met with a group of players regarding the state of Powerplay earlier this month. 2.1 also broke nominations, and because a fix is not listed in the patch notes, I assume they are still broken.

I understand that it can take time to fix issues like these, but any communication about these issues would be greatly appreciated. People are losing patience and the expansion bug is creating a lot of bad blood in the Powerplay community. It's very unfortunate to see relations between player groups devolving because of this.

no fix for :
- mission bonus spam with 0h00m and 0h01m which is impossible timer
- stuck station menu / missions screen forcing user to exit to menu ?
- missing descriptions of target minor factions for delivery missions
- mission descriptions of author/target minor factions after taking missions
- instant repeated interdictions
?

The 0h0m0s missions is on my list, the minor factions one is new to me - first of hearing about it. Will pass along the feedback on interdiction rate.

I thought the instant repeated interdictions had been fixed. Not had one of those since previous patch. Might be worth checking with the team if they either think its fixed or its just my luck and others are still having it.

Still happens and this is one of the major reasons, I have stopped playing for now.... it's just irritating!

Something with trackIR has been changed as well. Since the update and I'm using the exact same config I had before. Its much more sluggish now and not as responsive.

Yes, this needs a fix ASAP - I'm sure I've seen a bug report somewhere about it, so they'll be on it - I'll double check and submit one if I can't find it.
Just to clarify, the issue is that the setting for turreted weapons always reverts to FaW when entering/leaving SC, so if you are interdicted or drop into a CZ (or anything else really) you have to switch to the right hand panel, switch to the correct tab, then check & change the setting before you can engage the enemy.

Agreed, It is know bug caused by wrong indexing in custom.xml. Finger crossed.

BTW, Docking computer worked fine outside of the bubble. So, bubble was really shifted 10m in the galaxy somehow. Black hole nearby?

I don't play on xbox, so this is of no consequence to me, but I'm curious, why was this needed?
Shouldn't the game become unresponsive when you disconnect the network cable? and why the heck are people yanking out their network cable? :S

They are combat logging, no valid reason. They should have to deal with whatever for pulling a cable.

A workaround that hasn't failed yet for me is to go to right panel > Engineers, then hit Back. Opening the Engineers UI always closed the Station Services UI, which is quite annoying, but useful in this case. You can then open the Station Services again. Obviously this requires EDH so that you have the Engineers button there (at least I assume base-game-only players don't even have that button available).

Also, I guess all of us with earned but unawarded ranks are just left out the cold this go around. At the rate things are going, I'll be getting a message congratulating me for just making demi-god by the time my rank bar says midshipman.

I see your post has already garnered a good number of replies from armchair programmers.

I'm not a programmer, but I have a good deal of professional experience in Project Management, so the following opinion is based on that experience managing a team of engineers/programmers.

Your point is well taken due to the simple fact that the DC was unrelated to ANY of the changes they had listed in the .03 update. The most annoying aspect of this broken DC thing was the fact that it made it into the release in the first place! Basic core features of a game should ALWAYS be internally tested for proper function after any major changes to a code base.

The fact that they missed this points back to my original point that the DC was unrelated to anything they were doing, and thus I must assume that they didn't expect it would get broken by whatever they were doing.

This would seem to indicate some issues with the way FD is currently managing the game's code base. And more specifically... legacy code. The DC kind of falls into that category at this point in time. Apologists can spin all the yarn they want about this and that, but the fact remains that this SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. A simple test of the DC by someone at FD before the .03 patch was released would have caught this issue before it made it out into our game.

The Shifted Galaxy theory doesn't hold up due to the fact that the DC continued to dock normally at both Outposts and Planetary Bases within the Bubble. Had such a shift happened, it should have effected ALL docking activities using the DC and not just the larger Starports.

I'm glad to see it fixed though, but was hoping that the "Fire At Will" Turret bug which was also missed in internal testing remains unpatched in .04. That means we have to wait at least 10 days before any hope of seeing a fix, based on FD's current point update schedule.

Some want to give them a pass on all this. Thats fine. I expected more from their teams, and have been forced to lower the bar on what I will consider them capable of in future.

My advice to the project managers at FD would be to STEP UP YOUR GAME FOLKS!

Ehm.. is it just me.. or is outfitting missing from starports? Went to a few in the bubble and none had outfitting.. used the elite trading database thingy...
