Patch Notes Update 2.2.02 Update

Thanks for the update FD, but still a very long way to go.

That said, some progress is being made so that's a positive for sure.

What wing beacon bug? I play in a wing on a regular basis and wing beacons work just fine for us. It was / is the instancing issue that plagued wings though I personally have yet to see if the issue remains in this version.

At a guess i am thinking it may be related to when you slave your drive to your mates wing beacon.... when you jump to supercruise, it without fail drags you out again into normal space until you unlink.

Oh, the nav lock bug. Yep I have still experienced this but technically that is a nav lock bug not a beacon bug. Selecting and dropping on beacons works fine (except for the instancing issues).

Half speed Anaconda?

Never mind. despite playing for 2 years, I was tripped up by something obvious!
Errrr....

I don't know if it's the patch or if I'm losing the plot, but I refitted my 'Conda at the weekend as an armed mining ship and have just come to fly it. For some reason I can only get just over 100m/s top speed even though outfitting and shipyard is showing it should be over 200m/s. This is with 7A thrusters. The acceleration display only scales half way up the height next to the scanner. (gear up, everything retracted)

I thought it might be my joystick/controller settings at first, but the throttle was showing full acceleration in control panel. Switching between full-range & forward only & inverted settings made no difference.

So I switched over to my Asp and that has the expected top speed. Back to the 'Conda and its maximum speed is again half what it should be. (the throttle range is drawing 0-100% within the gauge, the max value is wrong)

Here's my outfitted ship.
I've tried switching back to the 7D engineers thrusters that I previously had, as well as losing the point defenses but it is still at half its top speed.

Any one else seeing anything like this?
[edit] Ship unexpectedly had 0.5 pips to Engines set for some reason ... doh!

Here's a whole thread on it.

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...a-to-fix-Wing-Beacon-issues-present-since-2-1

I'm glad it works for you but there's quite a few people who've reported them, submitted bugs/logs/videos/etc but they haven't been acknowledged as an issue. If FD came out and said "your router sux" that at least would tell those of us encountering the issue to give up bugging them about it.

But for me, personally, with the same exact ISP and winging up with the same exact players, I did not have these problems until after 2.1. Something changed.

Sadly now it's been a problem for so long that it's better just to leave the wing beacon and nav lock off. And now it doesn't look like we'll see the issue resolved until 2.3 at this rate.

If it's not just me and a small group of players encountering this issue and there is a problem with Elite's net code, expect a lot of complaints when multi-crew comes around. (Or expect it to die like CQC.)

Your own ship is no longer on the wavescanner, thank god. That way it doesn't block the stuff you want to find, and your ship is on the radar and left screen anyway.

Yeah, part of me wants to believe they were getting player metrics along the lines of: "Hey, these guys are driving around in big circles all the ti-Oh, OH!". 'Tis a good fix.

3302 IFF peepl.

But yeah there's also a bug with the other scanner stuffs.

Still no fix for this:

Constant graphics crashes on approach to planets. That makes the game still unplayable for me.

WOW! They sure nerfed the passenger mission payouts!

Ironic that they may have finally fixed the missing beacon bug, but now these don't pay enough $$ to bother doing them. ;)

Oh well... At least the regular mission payouts "appear" to have been given a much needed boost in payout amounts. I just took on a short hop cargo delivery mission that paid over a million CR! Haven't seen anything like that in ages!

Bummer about the SRV scanner though... I thought that was probably the most urgent and significant bug in the game at the moment. At least for anyone that needs to do any serious surface prospecting.

Speaking of which.... It looks like the spawn rate for Arsenic is screwed up as of 2.2.01 and likely remains in this update, though I have yet to confirm with 2.2.02.

Spent my entire session last night on multiple planets trying to get my usual 25 units of Arsenic before a round of Grade 5 FSD upgrades. I was picking up elements listed as having much lower percentages on these planets at 3 to 4 times the discovery rate of the indicated higher occurring Arsenic!

If the planet is listed say with Arsenic at 2.5% and Zirconium at 1.3%, how is it that at the end of the session on that planet I had picked up 40 units of Zirconium but only 10 units of Arsenic? Shouldn't I have found more Arsenic than the much lower occurring Zirconium? The same went for other lower listed elements like Niobium etc. Across the board I found way more of this rarer stuff on that planet than the Arsenic I was after even though it supposedly was much more plentiful according to the System Map stats. I always go to planets with at least 2.5% listed.

Something is definitely not right with that result, and I have found this problem on every planet I have worked since the last point update. Not expecting this to have been changed in .02, so coupled with the bugged SRV scanner, trying to find commonly used stuff on planets is definitely a chore.

Hello. My first post ever here. Registered just to say this:

I have been away for roughly a year from the game. Now got back a couple of nights ago and just ticked in 2200 hours in the game. I have been enjoying Elite a lot as you can see by the hours, even if progression of game elements seems dishearteningly slow a little too often. It is not too much to say I even love the game, series which I first got to know almost 30 years back.

Okay that out of the way you can imagine I am not totally clueless all of the time, so let me cut to the point of my post, even though I could say a lot of things I say just one since that one thing is the reason I even registered.

Dear FD: I love the game and most all aspects of it. When you introduced long-range passenger missions you did something really smart and proper. Now, why on earth would you nerf the monetary rewards? The rewards were fine as they were, getting 40-60 mils extra to carry a passenger to, say, Sag A* was NOT too much at all. They weight and make the travel slower, and exploration was always so stingy economically anyway it was really pleasant seeing a balancing factor introduced. And even more so the way the long-range passenger missions brought the galaxy alive finally with the possibility of some gain that was something like on par with the rest of the game.

Reverse the nerf. Please. It is redundant and thoughtless. Everything else I could have said about the game, state of it, patch and everything, well, nothing it really means a thing compared to this one thing. I have 14500 hyperspace jumps behind me. We really need things like this, with proper balanced rewards, to keep us jumping.

I will still go. But there is no way I am carrying a weighting down whiner on my ship to Sag A* for something like 10-20 mil. cr. For 10 mils I wouldn't have a single decimal taken away from my jump range on really long distances.

Thank you for your understanding.

I hope to get started with passenger missions asap!
What do you mean, get started? Passenger missions are over, rewards not really worth it anymore. It was surely too much before, but nerfed way too much now. I hope they'll find a reasonable compromise at some point.

^^ This.

Nice of you to increase the rewards for the other missions but...

I can't believe that the passenger rewards were nerfed. 40 million credits is the least amount I expect to be paid for travelling a quarter of the way across the galaxy. Now I can't see me ever doing one of those missions, and certainly not one of the long-distance ones. As a game dev myself I don't see wondrous stars and planets after a while, I see varied repeats of assets. How some people's entire game is based around simply looking at assets the entire time they play is beyond me. At least a big payout was some sort of incentive to do it.
